decorama is awesome! though it's a bit monotonous
throughout.. I was at their release party and it was.. well
we couldn't tell when one song ended and the next started.

when there's a bad review on boomkat you know it's something
personal. the only other artist they badmouth is
funkstorung.

"Killer second remix compilation from Funkstorung. The first
thing to point out with this release is that it’s
criminally limited – the vinyl version is restricted
to a one time pressing of 500 copies only, while the CD
version gets an equally miserly 1000 copies for the UK. The
material? There are moments of pure class on here –
the opening remix of Plaid’s ‘Eyen’ is
drenched in sweetness, a melancholy vibe with the
syncopation of the beats kept to a minimum. A track with
almost epic proportions. The collaboration between
Funkstorung and the Anti Pop Consortium’s Beans is
devestating – the vocal thankfully left largely
untreated, the beats flowing with serious depth and
substantial crunch. Awesome. More excellent remixes follow
for the likes of – The Notwist, Funckarma, Speedy J,
Tocotronic, Jean Michelle Jarre and plenty more. The
packaging is eleaborate and lush, as expected, so
don’t miss out on this one. Ace. "

Now at a campaign price!*Incredibly messy new album from
Michael Fackesch and Chris De Luca, making that
‘difficult’ transition to more adult-orientated acoustic
electronica. It’s a sanitised, sterile version of what fat
studio executives imagine leftfield music must sound like.
Vocal contributions come from Lamb’s Louise Rhodes, Tes
and some newcommers who give it their best shot, but the
over-production and lack of new ideas is somehow hugely
irritating and present throughout each of the 14 tracks on
offer. The album veers from re-configuerd digi-hiphopisms,
to “mature” and endlessly pretentious downtempo studio
pieces giving it the acoustic treatment with all the raw
emotion and integrity you could expect from someone like
Seal or the aforementioned Finley Quaye. The cd comes with a
glossy postcard for each of the tracks on board, shame that
the extravagence didn’t stretch to accommodate some new
ideas or a desire to take music further out and into new
terrain. “Disconnected” is the perfect album to grow old
to, thrusting you into middle age with the safety of dull,
famililiar surroundings while giving you the feeling that
you’re still somehow in the know. Excellent artwork
though.

We've already expressed our complete lack of enthusiasm
for Funkstorung's last album, although we have to hold our
hands up and say that their work with Enik no longer sounds
like Finley Quaye. It actually sounds more like early 90's
coffee table hero Seal. In case you cant remember what the
pock-marked wonder sounds like, here's a chance for you to
reminisce (this would be the musical equivalent of
self-harming, mind). Very poor. The flipside tracks with
Tes, Quadraceptor and Dose One are much better, just avoid
the a-side at all costs, ya'hear?

get the 7" vinyl of it in two-three weeks time when I go to
oslo.. I know there's a place that has it...

I get depressed on Boomkat, 'cause I can't afford to buy all
the dozens of good records. I know they hype up the
releases, but it's basically a catalog, not a magazine.
