Record Companies vs File Sharing

Those greedy, scumbag record companies are taking Morpheus
and Kazaa to court, just like they did with Napster.
Even if they shut down every single site, i still wouldn't
buy the records because i can't afford them all, and i will
not pay huge amounts of money for something without knowing
of it's any good.
Jesus, how much money do these people want?...

What about audiogalaxy? Are they being taken to court by
anybody?

It's just a cycle, though; one file-sharing site goes down,
seven spring up.

But how can these sites be up when Napster was closed? Isn't
it pretty much the same deal?

No AG is safe because they kind of compromise by blocking
tracks if requested to do so by record companies, but they
can only block if the full artist and song name are there,
so you can still get most stuff by being sneaky and putting
part of the song name in!...

i will always get music off the internet...

the way i see it, im not steeling if nobody is loosing
anything
i would'nt buy the record anyway, so nobody is missing out
on anything!

of course, if the artist IS good, then i will buy the
record..

But, when I use AG I search for the full artist AND song
name... That works.

As peter sez, one dies and loads more spring up. The demand
is so high. The only way the record co's will stop it is by
competing with a similar service but that's so good people
will pay for it. Like really high quality files, fast
downloads, cover artwork to download and print.

It should be up to the artists themselves whether they want
their stuff mass shared without anyone paying for it. I
sorta think it's wrong, artists should be given extra
incentive to create beautiful things... just like patents
are given to inventors... maybe there are some fantastic
artists who don't share their ingenious ground breaking work
because why should they if they'll just get screwed? Or
maybe they could have people pay like 5 cents a download to
each artist, I'd pay that, I wonder how much money, say,
otto von schirach would make that way....
