does anyone know of any way to figure out if a record is commonly and currently available on vinyl? I'm not talking only electronic here, but any kind of database-ish thing would probably help... I just want to know how easy it will be for a normal local store to get a hold of a vinyl release of something. as general as possible, but specialised will help too... I already know about discogs |

gemm will show you a number of retailers who stock a particular item. some are sneaky and you have to doublecheck for words like "backorder," but if a few reliable retailers (gemm rates each retailer that lists there) who have a particular item then it might be safe to assume the item is at least somewhat readily available. you can set filters to show only vinyl releases. |

i assume you're looking for a vinyl reissue? or are you looking for a collectible original release? |

it has been reissued on vinyl, but it still looks like all the copies are used. some are near mint, tho... |

yeah, I don't need collectibles as long as it's normal vinyl qualiy (in other words not ultra mega thin 12" single vinyls that you can hear the other side through) with normal vinyl sound. |
