I've just exported 10 bars...does it sound right? I'm not
sure whether the second 808 sounds OK or not?

appreciated.

I like the 808 except in the very first bar.... It would
sound better with maybe just random 808 effects going on for
the beginning, and then start the 808 when you start the
beat up.... but that's just what I would do.... the drum
beat is nice and old school :D maybe a little more could be
added to it as you go along.... also an old school synth
sound might be nice to incorporate later, as well...

Cheers yo, I will be changing parts as I go
along...something still doesn't sound quite right to me
though. I will try and edit the second 808 line into the
first...but it could be just the fact I know there are two
which is pissing me off :)

distorted and chopped vocals would do the job.

excellent bassline... this has a lot of potential to
develop. my only critique so far is that the hand claps are
a bit too loud... and i think the snare could use a bit
more beefing up as it is a bit too snappy (or maybe that's
how you like it, in which case, nevermind). i hope we'll
get to hear the finished version.

i like the claps and percussion but i think the bass line is
boring

steve the bassline hasn't been tweaked yet and I think I
will add a second 303 in there as well and possibly a synth
which should lift it a little.

tolst/obara I dunno about chopped distorted vocals or the
amen break :{P

r40f I like the snare but I will try lessoning the attack a
little. The hand claps stay as they are though :{P

snare pattern is similar to lfo's remix of aftermath by NOW,
which is a good thing!!

try a nice analogue pad with it!

You should tweak the 303, get some cut/res/env action going.

Sounds phat, add a classic dirty breakbeat with a big boom
under every loop of the break

How about this part?

Does it sound OK? Obviously shit still needs tweaking but
does it sound the opposite of what it should (i.e. should it
be lively instead?)

Thanks as always

honestly, i thought the first version sounded much better in
just about every way. the only problem with the original
was the mix... this sounds like a different song
altogether.

This isn't a different track, it's just a different section
of the same track.

It's still a work in progress though and the stuff I did
today I think reflects my mood quite heavily so it's a lot
more subdued than the first bit. I'll probably just scrap
half of it and start over.

Cheers lad :)
