Ha ha, I got a vinyl copy of that album for £1 on
Saturday.

Reminds me of being at school, listening to that album and
rave tapes from my mate Wes's brother record shop - "Trax."

strictly seen it probably is a pun, but seeing as a pun is a
play on words, there's hardly any playing there.

it's like someone saying "I wrote a song called 'that's
amazing' today" and someone saying "that's amazing!" and
meaning it as a pun - not scoring high on the
creativity-o-meter there either.

being in the know to such levels of detail is admirable but
correcting people about such things is kinda like when you
turnt o your friends and say "me and john banged this girl"
and your friend buts in shouting"I think you'll find its
john and I".

if anyone has seen green wing then Alan stathan (mark heap)
might spring to mind ;)

Worse than the fucking Harry Potter one.

But it winds up the Catholic Church a bit, so at least
something good has come out of it....

yeah i am hoping now that they ahve done such an anti
christian film as the da vinci code they will now be able to
do pullmans dark materials trilogy. I ahve been waiting for
fucking aeons for that but the whole "AMERICA DOES NOT
TOLLERATE ANTI CHRISTIAN FILMS" has held it back.

Have you seen Family Guy Season 4?

Peter steals Mel Gibson's only copy of 'The Passion of
Christ 2' (starring Chris Rock as Jesus' crime fighting
partner); since the world doesn't need to see any more of
that shit. Manages to kill Mel Gibson by getting him to walk
off the nose of one on the faces on Mount Rushmore.

"Christians don't believe in gravity."

Quality stuff indeed.

I'm very skeptical about the Dark Materials film(s) being
any good. Apparently they've taken out all the church
related stuff (cos they're pussies) And the director they've
got is a fucking joke, I can't remember what he's done in
the past but its something in the vague American Pie area.
Which doesn't bode well for such a unique book.

Just checked, it is in fact the chap who did all the
American Pie movies, Chris Weitz.

it sucks cos originally it was peter jackson and he agreed
untill he was offered to do king kong (which was his fave
ever film) so he changed his mind. I think its disgusting
they've taken the anti god stuff out mainly becaus eits the
fundamental part of the book. the climax revolves around god
and the gay angels.

Taff, if it makes you feel better, I got your Eliot
reference right away. He's way up there among my favorite
poets.

I hadn't heard that Peter Jackson was originally slated to
do HDM. Ah, what could have been...

man it makes me cry inside. i think he's the only one who
would ahve most likely pulled it off with any real care. ahh
well, whatever happens hollywood doenst make original films
anymore so lets see how they bastardise this.

as for T.S.Eliot the mans a legend :D

Yeah I think its so shameful censoring all the church stuff,
so not to be controversial. Typical hollywood... the book's
a piece of modern literature, not Harry Potter, I don't know
how Pullman is comfortable having his work bastardised like
that. THough maybe it will be better than I imagine, cos
apparently Pulman wrote the screenplay. I just don't know,
Holmes.

I love 'The Hollow Men', my favourite line from it i think
is 'this is the dead land, this is cactus land'. I'm doing
my dissertation on The role of redemptive literature in The
Waste Land.

yeah its a shame it didn't come out at the same time as
narnia. He wrote it as a counter to narnia and its christian
ideals and he did a good job. No one censored narnia.
regardless the book is fantastic, most likely my all time
fave. A true epic.
