damn, means i'll get less money for my ibook on ebay when i sell it :(
i'm probably going for the intel imac, not sure wether to get the 17" or 20" yet... i need the extra screen space for design work, my ibook 12" just doesn't have a large enough screen at all.

I was going to get one, but to be honest I'm going wait for the iMac line to be upgraded (due for a revision pretty soon) instead.
There is nothing wrong with my 12" Powerbook really, apart from the deafening fan noise. Just want a new computer to be honest.

i dont see how it would really its not as if all viruses were hand written in assembler anyway
and all that was stopping a virri writer from moving onto another platform was learning a new instruction set
what do you think?

imac got revised about 2 months ago. It isn't due for a revision.
I'm being patient and waiting for a new desktop mac with leopard. Been waiting for about 8 months so far. I hear it'll be launched with the august conference thing.

I really like the look of these, and may well get one eventually, although the main thing that I really hate is that the pixel res is so unremarkable. 1200 odd by 800 odd max ... if it went one stage higher it would be really interesting. Alas.

Having said that a higher res might not be practical on a screen that size.

it's not the chip itself, but rather the ability to install windows on a mac. it's not the hardware, but the software (operating system) that makes a mac more vulnerable. windows is like swiss cheese when it comes to security.

So being able to run windows, you can actually play all the games that you can on a pc? Stupid question maybe, but I have to computer-skillz

Yes. Running Windows on a Mac is very much the same like running Windows on a regular PC. The biggest difference is that a PC is easier to upgrade with different hardware.
On a Mac you're still much more restricted on what you can and cannot upgrade. And especially when you're looking for a computer for gaming, the ability for making future (hardware) upgrades is very important.

I don't have any experience with laptops and the upgradability of macs compared to pc, but in the desktop world you can't upgrade the graphic card and the audio card on a mac as easy as on regular pc's (if at all).
A PC you can build and rebuild from scratch. Once you've bought a mac you can play around with ram, and possibly the hd, but that's about it. Although i'm not sure what the intel equivalent of the power mac will bring. In the case of imacs and mac mini's you're very restricted.

do you think for video editing, animation, and live projections I will havet to buy macbook pro or macbook is enough... it has Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM, but macpro has grapgic processor with 128-256 ddr... tough decision :/
