seriously. i remember when i was younger i would watch it on vhs and i would 'analyze' certain scenes whit strikingly fast moves where it was obvious it's faked. but still, it is all part of the artial marts film making so i would have a laugh (those sounds he was making during fighting were amusic as well), but still appreciate it :)

Bruce Lee was a man. All his movies are entertaining, except... I saw Game of Death for the first time just last year... the fight scenes were awesome but I can't believe they went ahead with the rest of that movie, pretty shameful stuff.
Speaking of macho movies, I watched Commando today for some reason... I could physically feel my testes flooding full of testosterone.

i been studying martial arts for 15 years and really like certain martial arts movies too but i never dug bruce lee at all.... it always just seemed like showy adolescent crap to me, even as a teenager. At least jackie chan has that buster keaton aspect and never pretended to be actually bad-ass or macho in real life. An that bruce lee biography was atrociious and didn;t say much for the guy.
for me toshiro mifune is THE martial art movie guy. no slo-mo, no posturing, no machoness.. just pure swift action and shit cool moves.

I was wondering, and this is a serious question... who would win in a real fight, Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris? I know that The Chuck was some sort of undefeated full-contact martial arts champion for years and years. While The Bruce never did anything like that, but had fought on the streets, which may or may not have more real-world relevance.
So say you put Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee in a room and make them fight to the death. Or also, under more controlled conditions. Who do you think would win? I know that anti-matter would probably form if they were to hit each other, destroying everything within a 1000 mile radius, but pretend that wouldn't happen.
I have a Malibu Bruce Lee comic where he has a dojo downtown, and an obvious and evil Chuck Norris clone named Ace Zeppelin has a competing dojo across the street. They fight.

Seagal can do it all. He owned a dojo, he's released an incredible blues album... and some other stuff.
Lee couldn't really act but when you watch an interview with him, he's got some sort of bizarre intensity. It's charismatic and crazy.

That's right and that Okie fuck gave him the finger after leaving his master. Then he capitalized.
A grandmaster student of his JKD "style" says Lee was murdered via natural poisons that disenegrate after metabolizing in the body...
and that his son, Jason, was sniped. This info. comes from a man that worked in Naval Intelligence, learned from Lee's righthand man in Oakland, and was the first (maybe only?) American to be recognized in China with a belt.
Grandmaster Gary Dill is his name. I took classes in his very small studio for a bit, only to be told to learn from a book for $50/month. That kinda pissed me off...

"Prof. Dill with Ninja Grandmaster Stephen K. Hayes"
This picure conveys perfectly the fact that an awful lot of masters do not in any way, shape or form look "hard". We used to remark in Kung Fu classes that the Sifu and 2 other masters looked so normal it was disarming, normal haircuts, normal clothes, normal voices, everything. None of them even had the sort of build that you would stand down to in a fight, but any of them could KO you in seconds.

Been watching a few kung fu movies recently, especially 80s horror ones - Mr Vampire, Chinese Ghost Story etc. Really like Sammo Hung, quite a big guy - looks overweight but moves really well. His fight set in a crypt against a "hopping vampire" in Encounters of a Spooky Kind is something to experience.
Sammo fought Bruce in Enter the Dragon. Can anyone recommend other Bruce Lee films as its the only one I've watched.

Just out of interest, what's your motivation for learning? Do you want more confidence? Better self discipline? To be able to handle yourself in a fight? Self defense? Or do you just want to be able to compete in fights from a sports POV?
This isn't anything probing to see if you want to learn "for the right reason", it's just that if it's for something other than sports fighting/confidence, there are other arts I'd recommend, unless you have your heart set on karate.

He doesn't worrrry about any fights orr trrouble, he's 100% confident he'll be able to win without, that is, stamping on a perrsons head and being the one in trrouble himself.

If it's purely for self defense, a lot of people recommend grappling based martial arts. Judo and Akido (and even proper olympic style wrestling) are both meant to be very good (I've only studied Judo of those) and there's a quick "pick up time". By that I mean so long as you're reasonably fit, you'll get to a level where you can at least have a fighting chance, not too long after starting training. I often think a lot of kicking/punching based arts (particularly those that focus on kicks) take quite a while to get good enough to be much cop in a self defense situation. By just studying judo for 2-3 months, you won't be winning UFC any time soon, but for your common/garden street fights, you should at least be able to chuck them on the floor and run away, even if they're a fair bit bigger than you.
Even if you want to do something like Karate/Tae Kwon Do/Kung Fu, consider learning grappling as well as any fights that last longer than 20 seconds tend to wind up on the floor and against a stronger opponent, unless you know how to grapple, you're stuffed.
As much as I like Kung Fu (mainly Dragon that I studied), I have to concede that there's a bit too much art in it if it's purely for practical reasons you want to learn; it's obviously not to tai chi levels, but in a street fight, to quote my master, "A lot of the form goes out the window; it's all pretty fast and brutal. You may even just end up punching."

Also, re: things like stamping on people's heads. Yes, it's not exactly Queensbury rules, or "clean" fighting and it can get you "in trouble" with the law if you're foolish enough to hang around for the police to turn up. However, general attitude among people who do it for self defense is:
a) They started it. b) Why should you risk going to prison for defending yourself?
Someone I used to train with got attacked by 3 guys. He KO'd one, broke another one's arm and the third one ran off. The bloke who was KO'd wasn't coming around any time soon, so he went to a call box, rang an ambulance for them and then legged it. Morally, that's fine by me. Even if the KO'd bloke had brain damage as a result, it's his faultl; not the person he attacked. Sadly, you can't rely on the law seeing it that way, so a low profile is the way to go. It may seem difficult to overcome the values you, particularly as a Brit, will have probably had instilled since birth about a gentlemanly clean fight. You need to forget that; In a proper fight it doesn't work that way. A lot of "hard" people are handy in a fight precisely because they have no qualms about kicking you in the nuts, gouging eyes, using ashtrays as weapons and ganging up. If you want a chance of defending yourself, you need to lower yourself to their level.
Naturally, use it with discretion. If some hopeless drunk starts pushing you and you can get away without throwing a punch, great, no need to unleash hell on them. However, people who think you can always talk your way out of it/run away are either naive or just fortunate enough to never have been attacked for no reason.
