I'm giving this a try. I've got a friend who will rap over
it for me, since I can't and I'm white.

Sweet Georgia Rain

Make sure your bass is up.

The lyrics, I want to portray events from my childhood in
the growing up in the south, which I did.

The rapping will be semi-fast, kind of in a Ludacris style
almost.

----------

"We gon' tell you a story, way back in the day.
All bout the times we used to go and pray.
This where we grew up, this where we gonna stay.
Thunder rollin' in when the skies turn grey.

(chorus)

Runnin' barefoot through that Mississippi rain,
Lookin' for that blind man tappin' his cane."

----------

That's all I have so far.

It sounds cliche, I know.

The song music itself is just a basic idea I am laying out
right now, so don't expect it to sound good yet.

Comments?

I will not eat them in the rain
I do not like them on a train
I do not like them in a box
I will not eat them with a fox

It is a joke, but a fun joke at that.

Music isn't too bad, the drums need more presence and the
violins less, but it's quite good. I'd also suggest slow,
booming 808 kicks and that you put a lot of jumps and "stuck
notes" in the violins. Perhaps have the same melody play on
a cello and a kick drum solo as an intro, then a gunshot
sound effect and the drums come in properly with the
Ludacris style machine gun style snare and screeching
violins.

When you add the vocals, the cello and kick drum bit could
be used on the chorus and the rest as it stands could be
used for the verse backing.

Good luck.

PS I know it has a slow booming kick in places, but ideally,
make it even slower/with an even lower pitched element, even
if you layer it with the existing kick to retain a little
bit of punch.

i've taken the liberty of expanding your rap. check it
out:

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the governor
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the governor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lordy
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea Montgomery's got the answer

Well im rappin swift jams and im here to say
here in mississippi we love rappin everyday
I'm a mississippi lover, hard when I'm undercover
i'll do kinky things if you swear not to tell your mother
i'll push, but I won't shove ya, as long as I'm above ya
when I leave just promise me Swift jams i love ya
I want a girl with action, control like janet jackson
I hate the dark, I'm on the light so I can see reaction
Against all relaxin, prepare for steady waxin
when im mississippi rappin i guarantee satisfaction
word life

Begin the day
With a friendly voice
A companion, unobtrusive
Plays that song that’s so elusive
And the magic hip hop makes your morning wood

Off on your way
Hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the hip hop ever lingers
Undemanding contact
In your happy solitude

Invisible airwaves
Crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle
With the energy
Emotional feedback
On timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price ---
Almost free...

All this machinery
Making modern hip hop
Can still be open-hearted
Not so coldly charted
It’s really just a question
Of your honesty

One likes to believe
In the freedom of hip hop
But glittering prizes
And endless compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity

For the words of the profits
Are written on the studio wall,
hip hop hall ---
Echoes with the sounds...
Of salesmen.

i love this beat man, so do others ive sent it to. dont
listen to everyone else its niice jus the way it is..

but

agree with above, needs a bouncy flow to compliment it,
something like Orko Elohiem or a euro-trash grime emceee
thing

Too much compression on the kick! You need some midrange on
that violin sound. Other than that, I love the hihats and
clap.

I agree. Something is terribly wrong with the overall
compression. When theres no kick, the violins sound really
loud. Instead, try putting a compressor on (very subtle) and
then a limiter on top of that.
