the great thing about stafford-nottingham is that although
it takes longer than it would to walk, when you pull out of
derby (and who hasn't) apart from the joyous glee of
leaving, you leave the same way you came in

Line closed for maintenance
Stopping for half an hour just outside your station
Inexplicably not stopping at your station to save time

Add to that list

Surly, scruffy staff, who can never help with your query and
look pissed off that you thought it was acceptable to ask
them for help/advice.

"Joining" 2 trains with such force that you slip a disk.

"Seperating" a train, leaving you in a carriage on a station
as the train disappears into the distance.

Only employing people with elocution on a par with an
inebriated somerset village idiot for the announcers, all in
the name of "equal opportunities".

Giving you the wrong ticket/overcharging you in the ticket
office, seconds before your train arrives so you have no
option to argue/remedy the situation.

3 different members of staff giving you 3 different prices
for the same journey on the same day, same time etc.

Weirdos who come and sit next to you.

Being given the wrong information by staff regarding which
train this is pulling into the station.

Staff asking to check your ticket every time they go past
you, because they have the memory span of a goldfish.

The smell of trains.

The lack of indoor waiting rooms on many stations.

The shit, overpriced, stale food in the "restaurant"
carriage.

Whoops, looks like I exceeded my allocated 3. I really,
really hate British public transport with a passion.

Rory McGrath. Anything to "cop a feel" of a lithe young
woman's body.

most part
