i'm thinking of abandoning my music as Oddioblender and going for something completely different. upon listening to Throbbing Gristle for countless hours on end, I've decided to return to my Zio Magus moniker (possibly) and the following are some attempts at experimental and industrial music.
If I could get some opinions on either one of these, that would be great. Believe it or not, these are "demos" and I plan to do more work on them. Any criticism is appreciated, so i will know whether to keep this as sideproject or go all out with it.
Pudding or Sleep Terror

I would say, if you don't feel you should go all out with it, then don't go all out with it - seems kind of pointless otherwise.

The vocal on "Pudding" is a bit grating after a while, mostly due to the effect. I would definitely add some variation in there. I like the second one more.
Out of curiosity, why do you do all of your music in mono?

on second listen, the vocals on Pudding are quite terrible. I'll re-do them later today. Thanks for noticing.
Aphexisatwin - is the album "Music for Horrors"? If so, that is me. :)

i think Pudding sounds too much like throbbing gristle. if you're influenced by them, you should be influenced by their ideas about experimentalism and improvisation, not just using tremelo on your voice.
sleep terror was quite cool. i especially like that synth jam thing at the end. it would be great if that went on for longer.

I was going to say pretty much exactly what wise r40f says, but I would've popped the word "fucking" in there about 10 times. So it's just as well he said it first.

The first one, I like the style of the intro. I haven't heard Throbbing Grstle before, but this sounds nice. Too much of the stutter sound though.
I don't particularly like the reverb on all the vocals though.

got it, got it. ditching the tremolo vocals.
thank you all for your input. i was going to add some guitar to the "sleep terror" track but everyone really seems to like it so i think i may leave it be for now. but, i shall change the vocals on "pudding" and post a new version here sometime in the future.

What the fuck is with all this monkier business???
Just make music you want to make at the time you are making it, fuck artist names/track title/genre/influences...
As it happens neither of these tracks really floats my boat.

haha, actually you are right, I don't like any of your tracks...I have never thought about it before. I still find it interesting to listen to your new stuff though...probably because I think one day you will blow me away with something staggering. I still think that at the moment you are trying to hard to find 'your sound' by replicating the work and style of others.

I hate to be one of those people that say "i liked the old stuff better", but i'm afraid i have to. I really did. This does nothing for me, but honestly, i'm not into industrial at all. The vocals dont sound that good.
So to answer your question, please keep this as a side project. Let me do some artwork for an Oddieblender rap demo, and send that shit out.
