BoC on MTV

hello there,

i was wondering if the new boards of canada video from the
new record "Trans Canadian Highway", will be shown on MTV.

i think its a strong possibilty, since it sounds as little
electronic as possible on that record.

i hope it doesn't get shown on MTV as that could end what we
call underground to some degree.

MTV BoC

MTV BoC Ringtones :(

i don't think the showing of a boc video on mtv will be the
end of non-mainstream electronic music.

boards of canada are quite popular outside IDM (or whatever)
though, so i wouldnt be suprised if they showed their stuff
on MTV.

"i hope it doesn't get shown on MTV as that could end what
we call underground to some degree. "

Don't worry, the underground has already been ended by the
trendsters who got into IDM via Radiohead et al. I nearly
cried a few months back when I went to a fashionable party
and there was Autechre and Squarepusher playing.

offline Murray from Southend, Essex (United Kingdom) on 2006-04-16 07:53 [#01880505]
Points: 4891 Status: Lurker

I don't see what's so bad about autechre and that playing at
a fashionable party. Most of the time people go to those
parties and complain about the music, but when they're is
something like that played people complain that they want it
kept underground. The situation can't be helped.

It won't be played on MTV that much, mainly for the fact i
doesn't have lyrics, and the video doesn't feature the band
or any catchy hooks. Like Dannn said it will be played on
120 minutes, without a doubt. But that isn't bad, that's
awesome.

yeah how dare people listen to and like 'OUR MUSIC'. its
ours. they can fuck off.

uhm, yah, whatever.

what makes people here think that trendy people will want to
listen to boards of canada, who cares if they do or dont? so
what if the music that we enjoy becomes mainstream? what
fucking difference does it make. its still the same music as
before. having a go at people just listening to electronic
music just because its suddenly 'in' is so idiotic. it gives
the impression that you only listen to it because its not
cool, which is every bit as pretentious, if not more so.

I know it doesnt matter what everyone else is listening to
and be your own man and keep it real and all that guff, but
I think most people dont like to listen to mainstream music
whether its good or not, just because you get it shoved down
your throat and it ruins it. And also a lot of artists dont
take well to fame, I imagine Aphex would be a bit less of a
wanker to his fanbase if he wasnt a mainstream icon.

I guess this has been noticed before, but just now by me,
and therefore worthy of me saying it, but I like how the LFO
page on the MTV site mixes LFO and the Lite Funky Ones
together, in some perverse web based mash up.

"oh who cares who listens to the music you like. just listen

to what you like and don't give a fuck. "

You are right. But if you notice the adverts during the
LOADING of the BOC bio, you will agree that taking something
genuine and original to a place of no integral motive,
creates a void sense of justice.

Great music becoming anonymous is a very legitimate reason
to "Give a Fuck".
