I discovered "Starlight" by Model 500 and I have been
playing that a lot.

And "Love's Secret Domain" through out mutual friend.

And I recently found out what a great album L.I.F.E is and I
don't know why most people have the arsehole about it.

Ultra Vivid Scene. picked this cassette tape up at a used
record store two or three weeks ago and it's really great.

no shit? that must have been a good show. I stumbled onto
them completely by accident. I just saw a cool looking tape
and noticed it was on 4AD (which I adore). I can't believe
I'd never heard of them before.

what album should I look into next?

That album I think contains one of my fave songs ever "A
dream of love", closely followed by "How did it feel". I
think that "UVS" album is the best, the second album "Joy
1967 - 1990" is more rounded sounding, and has great great
songs "Staring at the sun", "Lightning", "Special One"...
The third album "Rev" is good but... more of the same, but a
bit less so. Very interesting bloke though, certainly on the
first album he plays pretty much all the instruments
himself. Some of the singles b-sides are worth seeking out
too, like his cover of "Codeine". GOOD CHOICE!

I'm listening to A dream of love now to refresh my memory.
I like this one, that slightly off-kilter piano.. :) It's
gonna take me a little while to find the other one since
it's a tape I have to scroll through. My favorite on there
though is probably Nausea.. just so lilting and
otherworldly.

From your description it sounds like I should continue
getting them in order. I'll look into 'Joy..' I appreciate
the rocommendations! I am jealous that you saw them live,
what year would that have been?

(sorry axion! we didn't mean to hijack your thread)

haha indeed. in answer to your question, it sounds a little
bit like my bloody valentine only slightly less noisy, and
with more structure I guess. They sound similar to the one
or two jesus and mary chain tracks I've heard too. kind of
indie shoegazery??

yeah it is. I think the sleeve says it's from '89. calling
it 'indie' anything sounds terrible these days, but it's
really very pretty, moving, and unpretentious music.

hirazawa susumu, composer for the music of the berserk
series.

the theme song to this show is HORRIBLE, but everything else
is amazing. :)

yes, it is excellent!

i have also grown fond of Sierra Lives on the Moon, a local
band here in DFW, a husband-and-wife duo. very eccentric.

not sure how recent 'recent' is and if 'discovered' you mean
not aware of anything like that...

Various Production
Baba Zula (turkish psyche stuff mixed and produced by Mad
Proffessor, live bellydances...excellent stuff)
Konono no1 (ficking incredible!)
anything on the 'Sublime Frequencies' label
Guitar Loops by J.Spaceman (from Spiritualized)

and if by 'shit' you mean anything else:
Spicy Mex Cheese
Curious Fruit (little pomegranit looking things...)
New Puma Disc trainers

and Sufi meditation and poetry (spin around for ages to
hypnotic music, fall to the ground then think for abit,
prefferably on an empty stumach)

I also 'discovered' full official details for the Glade

and I have discovered what may be insect bites on my arm,
leg and torso...

i've discovered this nifty little app that simulates the
throat/mouth/lungs of a human being. all the muscles are
represented by envelopes and values and it makes fucking
scary sounds when properly tuned.
very realistic sound.
like using a dead person as an organ or a clarinette or
something.

herbie hancock headhunters is excellent. Got the vinyl and
there is an excellent bit in the middle where the drummer
just plays a bass drum so it sound like the record has
finished and its in the lock groove and every revolution it
skips, but just as you get up to flip it over the music
starts again. awesome!
