A quote from the register-page:

"Remember: Multiple accounts = permanent ban.
Signing up just to spam? That is not tolerated. We might
even ban your account just for the sake of it - and it's
strictly forbidden to create another account, so think twice
before spamming around..."

Why is this so hard to understand? I've seen a numerous of
people signing up and their first post is still pure spam,
like "visit mysite.com for my new album" or similiar....

Yeah, I can see you've put that message on the "register
page" as well. I actually thought it would have solved
things like that, instead nothing. I could understand when
it was only inside the FAQ. Oh well.

Make the FAQ more prominent, or make it .. make it so you
have to view the FAQ before posting, if you have less than
10 points, something like that.

I still say have a Music Quiz as part of the registration
process.

I agree. It should be short audio clips of well known
electronic tracks and you have to get something like 50% of
them correct.

You should see the registration on the Simon Wai's Sonic 2
Beta site, that's got some seriously tough questions on it
before they allow you to register (plus if you get it wrong
twice then your IP gets locked out....)

Yup or sticky this and get rid of some of those others. But
they should read it before posting.

I like dog_belch's idea of making new members read the FAQ
before the first 10 posts, or something to that effect. I
wonder if the spammers will skill just scroll to the bottom
and type the message without reading though... :( Hard to
think with the mind of a spammer. Best left to the
professionals.

That'd be too stressful for a moderator. Do you check under
last 5 registered sometimes? Every time I look at that, I
can find new folks.

what about one of those little popup error box things. Like
right after the account is enabled it alerts them to read
the FAQ or presents this rule from the FAQ which is often
times the most frequently abused.

That way its right in their face and gets their attention.

I think thats more effective than usual "read the rules" etc
as this rule is unique to message boards. People dont read
FAQs because its usually common sense.

Well, you could make a pop up that occurs when people sign
up for a new account that people have to aggree to, stating
in one or two lines, that if they are here to spam they
should go somewhere else. Then follow that with a link to
watmm.com as the somewhere else.

have you guys seen the registration-page? they don't even
have to check out the FAQ-page as the obvious rules are
stated right on their forehead before they sign up.

A friend of mine who is an ameture director says that in the
film industry its taught that if you have an idea for a
script, try to finish it as quickly as possible, because
three or four other people are probly writing the same
script.

actually, now that I think about it, that right there isn't
impossible.. an absolutely positioned div that'll only go
away once you click the "ok" button/link at the bottom and
then you should have large red letters explaining the
futility of spamming here, not simply state that it isn't
allowed... you should also have a picture of something nasty
and write "this is you.. fag" on it.

define 'spam' better. most people don't actually understand
that yes, promoting your own warez can actually be
considered spam, but instead just associate it with spam
bots and the like advertising the latest penile drug.

The problem being that the sluts with vibrators eventually
leave, or get bored of pretending to be women. We need to
keep the slut pool fresh otherwise they dry up.
