First number one (in the uk charts) in ages that has been
any good. Discuss.

Do you mean:
a) You don't think it's good.
or
b) There have been other No. 1s of late that are any good?

it's also the first #1 based on downloads alone, which i
find pretty impressive. johnl's reccomended it, and now ceri
jc, so it must be worth a listen or two

the internets great for opinions isn't it? i just got the
cellar door sessions. that danny glover plays a mean
trombone.

Both really. My ears perked up when I heard it on R1's
advert but the full track I thought was pretty dull.

This track sucks hard imo. Really hard. That's bullshit,
like any other dangermouse production...

It's so gay. Shitty dated 90's style trip-hop shitty car
advert music.

It's been number one for 9 weeks, and I still turn it up
when its played - that's 'CRAZY'!

Its a choon though, really. Hats off to those guys.
Apparently they have now deleted it from the charts, so it
won't be around the charts anymore.

very catchy melody. so catchy i'll probably play that one
several times in the morning.

maybe it's a hidden collab with RDJ ?

I think Dangermouse is like RDJ, though, really.

Like RDJ he has the same experimental but commercially
attractive style, and an odd uncelebrity sense of humour...
they may well be one and the same.

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2006-06-01 17:13 [#01911624]

Im pretty sure there is another thread in which the same
discussion has transpired...

but i think dangermouse is overrated, and i really dont see
why hes so big suddenly. I guess there always has to be an
underground producer who trendy types like albarn want to be
seen with. hes good but i mean... whats so different?

Yes. I think that too. He's good, but I don't see why he has
suddenly become the current darling of the music industry.

i also heard the album today. the vocals hold the whole
thing together - it's like with Lidell for me: if there are
weaker instrumental moments - the voice saves a track.

after 1 listen i can say it's ok. it might be a grower !

Nelly does a cover version of it on BBC live lounge with Jo
Wiley. I like this song and the cover is good too. Bloody
good songwriting in my humble oppinion.

clears things up.

one might try to compare this album to the latest Prince
[vocally?] ....i was willing to listen to that 3121 [?] but
i gave up after the first track in which nothing special
happened.

while this album - kept me interested all the way through.

I like GB. One cool lyric on the album, I forget which song,
but it's "I'm a microchip off the old block." I just love
the way that sounds.
