In spite of all these "scratch" functions on devices like
this, I've never seen anyone scratch really well on them
apart from things like the Final Scratch which use vinyl as
an element of the controller. Some of the CD decks,
particularly the Numark CDX are getting there, but things
like not being able to needle drop on tones, etc. are
missing.

Most scratch functions in purely digital devices, with only,
say, a midi controller as the hardware (lets take the one in
traktor for example) are rubbish. They're akin to some of
the FX and features they put on cheap mixers; salesmen's
tools to make it appear more versatile/better than it is,
but which does it really badly.

yeah but it's useful for searching for the exact cue, or
backspin

there's nothing like the real needle, i think you can't
compare it, it's totally different approach

Because baby jesus would rather have Ableton Live 5, surely.

ipod and this is still cheaper, plus you need some midi
controler for laptop then.
anyway, someone wrote that iDJ2 will be 650 euros, i think
it's worth 450 though, so i guess i'll wait little bit if
that price is correct

I doubt he would use ableton. I myself have deemed it
useless.
