I'm gonna to have to remove this from my site for a while
(so they powers that be don't notice all the
downloads..)...

I RUN TINGS WebWise here so I shouldn't get paranoid....but
it's wise to be careful...

I'll leave it up for next 24hrs...

If anyone wants any other rare stuff, then let me know and
I'll put em up on a server for a weekend...

What was the quality like for those who have already
downloaded?... Sounds CD qual here but wouldn't mind hearing
your oponion...

Long Life Digital radio over Cable...I get a super clean, no
cracks, hiss etc... so if there's anything else coming
up....Let the board now and I do likewise with the taaping
-> MP3ing...

p.s. Heard from Grant at Rephlex over the weekend, asking
for a copy...I askd him whether he had a problem with MP3s
of the show and he was fine & said "do what you
like..."....

Diamond Geezer...

Mine were recorded from digital radio onto Minidisk then
ripped to my computer and encoded at 56, 128 and 256k with
file sizes of 45, 105 and 210meg so there is one for
everyone. tunemx has them all and i'm sure if you ask nicely
he will post the 256k one for download.

hehe this is pretty easy on Linux...

there is a basic tool called 'split'

you say "split -b 800m fuckingbig.wav"

and voila :)
There was a similar tool on DOS some years ago, back in the
floppy years, I dont know if you can still find that.

couldn't you just load it into cool edit or something and
cut it that way? i am in the process of putting all the
seperate tracks of "chill out" by the KLF and making the
whole seamless continuous track it should be :)

recycle: you can't rent Flex...last I heard Chris Cunningham
was selling a DVD with the work on for £25,000 (about 40
USD)...and theres only about 20 copies in circulation...It
was done as a piece of Video Art hence the price...

The version I've got is from a Caccorder, but it's not bad
qulaity...would be nice to have a pukka version but unless
we have a wipe round, I doubt we'd be able to afford it...

bit late with this one but....jand, quality is very good 184
kbps. let us know when you get the other stuff back
on...cheers once again. you the man.

recycle - the fast track is bogdan radwotsit no idea what
the track is but he did it live at dedbeat a couple of weeks
back.

offline jand from Braintree (United Kingdom) on 2002-03-06 11:05 [#00113857]
Points: 5975 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

Don't know where that 184kbps comes from, it's probably the
average bitrate as I used a --r3mix preset on the encoder
which is a VBR one (variable bit rate). This makes the
encoder choose an appropriate bitrate as it goes
along...more complex it get, the higher bitrate gets
allocated. So should be close to perfect (for MP3)...

It also helped that I get digital radio via Cable so no
tuning crackles or stuff - Recorded it straight to my
laptops HD using CoolEditPro....was kinda nervous as I knew
it was gonna be a huge 44.1Khz Stereo .WAV file and thats a
LOT of HD space for 2 hours.....BUT thankfully it handled it
perfectly..:)...

As for other goodies, I'll post a message on the board
whenever I've got anything ready for download - I'll also
email anyone who's emailed me at j@g3rm.org to let them
know...
