Tool's new album

The only thing I could say to that is, "Vicarious" is in
fact the first song on the album AND it happens to be the
single. Perhaps they got the obligatory shit out of the way
as soon as possible, no?

I mean they still are a POPular rock band on a major
label.

judging by the way all their previous singles perfectly
represented their respective albums, i would find that very
difficult to believe.

uhhh... I have to say Schism in fact DID NOT represent
Lateralus. (awkward time signatures, forced lyrics, sounds
familiar?) To this day, that's the one song by tool I still
skip over.

I think it's below their average, but since the album is
supposed to be venturing into the regions of meshuggah and
fantomas I don't think it's representative. Just a single to
appeal to the Tool crowd.

thetoolhotline

post #01880121, is the name of maynerd's other gig, they did
a few tracks for the underworld movies, as much as maynerd
is golden, the tracks/remixes pretty much, kinda suck :(

HAHA, guitar work is kind of meshuggish indeed. Rather
reminding of their recent boring (for me) albums though.

With every Tool album I try to convince myself that I like
their music, but I can't. After half an hour it just bores
the fuck out of me. It's good music really, but I think I'm
allergic.

From this album Intension I like the best.

its alright - theres something about being into music from
when youre a kid, and listening to the same music when youre
an adult that kind of never lives up to what you think it
should be..

i think nine inch nails suffers the same fate. i can
remember listening to both of these bands over 12 years ago,
and now its just not the same, i guess i would feel
differently if they came out with something completely off
the wall or radically changed their sound.

it's fucking great up until rosetta stoned. although i like
the lyrics for that, the music just sucks. so does the rest
after that. it's just one big boring drivelfest, the music
doesn't really GO anywhere. tool is my favorite band and
they cook up some amazing shit in wings for marie 1&2 and
the pot, but the stuff after just doesn't hold ground for me
at all. there's a lot of one bassnote type droning melodies
where maynard can't really explore vocal harmonizing at all,
it all goes to shit after lipan conjuring. everything.
rosetta stoned, intension and right in two. sounds like
20-30 minutes of filler. oh well. it might grow on me, but i
doubt it very much. their previous albums i could get into
very fast and it was all fucking amazing at first listen.
and they still hold up really really well.

better luck next time, i guess. although there is some
amazing work on this album.

what are you talking about, you CUNT?!

i just relistened to the album twice today and my first
impressions of the second part of the album just fell out of
the caustic window. it is actually quite fucking brilliant
and i have no idea how i didn't notice. and no one's even
