Anyone else having a crack? It's going to be fucking tough
remixing The Theme because the track is a fucking classic
but I am going to have a go...whether I get to a submission
stage is another matter :)

yeah, I was thinking about it, but it how on earth do you
approach it. the word sacrilige comes to mind

All I did before I started mine was promise to chop my
fingers off if I get sloppy and IDM or glitch it up. I've
got about a minutes worth of rough outline and I'm
relatively pleased at the moment. It's so hard though.

seems like a good premise to start off.

maybe I'll do a 92 bootleg-esque thing. I'm not sure, I'll
see what happens when I load up the samples :)

Well, I've started on it, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna
finish it. Here's a little sample of the direction
I've taken it. I might have overproduced the sound though.

I'd love to hear what you guys have come up with so far.

Haha, I guess it's ok, but I bet the winner will be some
"cool" idm-person remixing it in a more "hip" way.

I'd be pissed off if the winners were hip idm tracks...this
track deserves better.

I can't I have much of a relationship to the original track
seeing as I'm pretty "new" to electronic music. But I agree,
the track should be remixed in an "oldschool" genre at
least.

loose the reverb and imagine being on the dance floor.

Points: 5764 Status: Lurker | Followup to JivverDicker: #01862291 | Show recordbag

Yeah, I agree. It's a little too wet at the moment.
Especially considering the addition of natural reverb. The
thing is that I'm not used to making "dancefloor" music so
those things are easy to forget.

Turn your lights off, Stand in the room nextdoor and hear
what you have made. Do all the noodley stuff later.

Hehe, here's two quick edits (both with a dry mixdown, only
some delay) :

"dancy" offbeat-bassline version
"funky" first-bassline version version

What's your input?

Yes, I wouldn't say it's 'funky' more direct. I enjoyed it.

Yeah, it's not really funky in the musical sense of the
word. Cool that you enjoyed it though.
