posting while listening
it sounds very heavy rock
I love the percussion that sounds like there's a guy making noises with his mouth!
the synth that comes in after a while is awesome! I've tried figuring out how to make things like those, but even with the help of the awesome impakt I was unable to do it.
the area where the mobile phone becomes apparent is.. well, you coul probably have used a different sound there...
you could've brought back a defined melody towards the end, but it was a good track!

i wasn't aware that i put a single defining melody in the track, but i do know what you mean about the end.
cheers for listening :)

well, not defining, just more defined.. the end has a chaotic melody while the first one has more structure is what I meant
I know phyrgian mode, but what do you mean by tritones (I may know it, but the english word may not make sense)?
(I'm sucking up as much musical theory as I can.. I just find it interesting)

a tritone is a diminished 5th or augmented 4th, known as the 'diabolus in musica' (or 'the Devil's interval').
e.g. D -> G#/Ab

that reply got me listening to bleach again. love buzz has a deadly bass riff, a deadly intro in general.
pity about the lyrics

since age 8-15 approximately! brings back memories. there are a few underrated gems on incesticide too. i even have a melvins album now... it's called 26 songs.. i think it's the one i was reccomended at a party, i'm not sure, i was drunk.
ps - sorry for being rude, jack. the track hadn't downloaded by the time i posted here :) listened to it now though and i quite like.

is it a good album with which to form an opinion on the music of the melvins? (i know they have like 20 odd albums or something, so that might be impossible..)
also, and this is all quite coincidental and funny - to cut a long story short, last night i decided to torrent the documentary "kurt & courtney" to a friend's box so that i could rip a bit of audio from it and get you to identify a song. I think on the actual video, yer man says in a voice over "i'll now play a song by the band earth, the band of kurt's best friend.. blah blah", and it's a really, really great riff, really nice dirty production; i used to listen to that bit of the video over and over again when i was a kid, and play the riff on guitar endlessly just because i couldn't find out what the song was.
I once tracked down the only "earth" song mentioned on the credits of that documentary, Tallahassee, after *much* searching, but it wasn't the same song. i was devastated. so once the video's finished downloading here, i'll strip out that bit of audio and get you to id it, i'm sure you'll know it.
i seriously can't wait to get my hands on a full-length mp3 of it :)

as you suspect, it is too difficult to pick one album and call it representative. from album to album, they do very different stuff. 26 Songs is a re-issue of one of their earliest releases... if you're interested, i'll send you a mix i made of melvins songs and maybe it will give you a better idea of their music. :)
i know what you're talking about in the kurt and courtney video, but i don't know the song offhand. i'd certainly like to try and identify it, though.

ah i wasn't expecting you to be able to guess, i was just rambling and explaining how this is all such a coincidence since all this shite about getting you to identify that song was running through my mind last night.
mylittlesister: wow, dylan carlson sure has weathered a lot since "kurt & courtney" was filmed. jesus.
