Glad you're alright.

No, it luckilly never happened to me yet. I think
chaosmachine had also been hurt by a vehicle twice last
year.

I've never been hit by a vehicle before but when I was a
kid, me and my friends used to hop up on ice cream truck
bumpers and grab on tight. One time it left the
neighbourhood and starting going fast on the main roads and
I fell off. Literally ragdolled me, luckily I fell towards
the sidewalk and bushes. Lots of bruises.

i hit a car with my bike when i was about 5. the car and i
survived, we were both moving quite slow, that's why.

did you write/note down the plate numbers ? how did it
happen first of all ?

What happened man!? I take it the car was going pretty
slowly?
My mum ran over my foot once. that hurt. went black, yummy!

my friend did something similar, but with a motorcycle....he
sat on the back of it, facing backwards and got the driver
to ride really fast...

you ever seen Beavis & Butthead Do Ameria? Where Butthead
makes Beavis jump out of the boot and "run" in sync with the
road? That's why my friend tried - of course he failed
miserably and escaped death with bruises and cuts

hope your recovery was fast man, sounds like good clea
childhood fun!

thanks everybody for your concern, yet again just goes to
show the great community here at xlt and why i love this
place

*communal beers for all*

ok, well i was on my way to work this morning on my bicycle
riding on the pavement. as i was coming up to a t-junction
(i had to cross the road to get to the other side) a car
clipped me as he was turning in.

i was fucked in the head from severe stress and a bad nights
sleep.

but he should really have seen me - i had a bright yellow
overcoat on.

we both were going quite slowly, otherwise i think i
wouldn't have survived with the injuries i have

only good thing to happen to me this month is securing my
claim on a mint condition 808

in retrospect though, that's a damn good thing

it's driver's fault then.

nope i didn't note down any numbers or anything, but the
driver did stop. other people were there too so either they
stopped to assist, or they hit the van as he
stopped.....either way, they called 999 and the police and
paramedics arrived, so i'm assuming the police would have
taken down all relevant details.

i'm just popping ibuprofen and paracetamol and resting.
still gotta go to work though, so i'm hoping my legs aren't
gonna be too fucked tomorrow for me to walk into work. i was
alright today, but i know from experience that the aches
don't come until the day after an injury usually :-s

that happened to my ex - but she got her foot ran over by a
motorbike, and her toes were messed up

i must say i think having a foot ran over by a car far
exceeds the pain i'm in now - hope there's no ramifications
of that accident that are still occurring now :)

the best thing about being a cyclist is the fact that you
are invincible. you can go on the road or pavement when you
want, and road markings are for cars only. traffic lights
are optional.

I've been in numerous car accidents.

Hit by a car? I dont remember. I am thinking no.

As long as you dont have head trauma or internal injuries
you are good to go! Thank goodness thats how it turned out.
Glad you are healthy wealthy (?) and wise (?)

:P

Peace Love and Beers!

it was quite funny actually. Mum dropped me off at school
and as she started to pull away she ran over my footsie. she
was going realllyy slowly though cos the lights were on red,
and she just kind of stopped on it. I was banging on the
windows, and it took her a while to realise what had
happened and then decide whether to reverse off it or carry
on driving! I was running late so just kind of hobbled off
because i was running late. Didn't realise how bad it was
til i saw the tyre marks on my shoe and my black foot! Had a
lsore ump there for ages but I don't think it broke any of
the bones at all!

What injuries have you got? were you wearing a helmet?

i_x_ten

yeh my mom told me that the driver is at fault, according to
the law, so i'll have to see. i may even get some
compensation out of this

virginpusher

no, no trauma that wasn't already there to begin with
thanks :) i'm kinda healthy, not wealthy (as i'm
paying for this 808 in installments i'm that broke!) and i'm
certainly not wise

:D

SValx

yes, ouch indeed....for the car to be stopped on your foot
must've killed!

my injuries consist of badly bruised and grazed knees, a bit
of an ache on my right shoulderblade (as i fell on that too)
and that's it i think. no i wasn't wearing a helmet. they're
too expensive for what they are (just polystyrene) and they
look ridiculous (yeah i know, this coming from a guy who has
red hair and wears pink trousers!). i know i should wear a
helmet but i really cant justify spending a ridculous amount
of money on a piece of polystyrene with plastic on it. i can
feel the flames now.
lol

Don't be a muppet! If you'd smacked your head on the ground
you'd probably be dead by now. it's not *just* a bit of
plastic and polystyrene, you prawn!

i was walking through leeds last night, to a gig at the
other end of town, and the main cross junction had been
sealed off by police and were taking photos for skid marks
and the like (except it had been raining).
looked like a car had hit a bicycle with fatal consequences,
it did not look a pretty sight.

so, glad you're alright though osillik.

15 stitches on my head.

It was a joy to scare girls by takin off my hat at school 2
weeks later.

hahah i like your style mate

i was showing off my knobbly knees in work today. someone
quipped "they've swapped his legs for arms!" poiting out
thefact that i am a rather thin specimen of a human being!

i'm guessing you still have a scar under your hairline then?

THE RANKING SO FAR:

1. QRDL [15 stitches]
2. oscillik [minor injuries]
3. ?
