oscillik: glad to hear you're not seriously injured... i hope it's not/won't be too painful... good luck for that! ' _ '
SValx: "it was quite funny actually. Mum dropped me off at school and as she started to pull away she ran over my footsie. she was going realllyy slowly though cos the lights were on red, and she just kind of stopped on it. I was banging on the windows, and it took her a while to realise what had happened and then decide whether to reverse off it or carry on driving!"
> the moment when the car was on your feet must have been pretty awful/stressful o_o

glad you're alright mate
was once hit by a car when i was like 5 years old, and i ended up with my whole left side of my body under the vehicle that hit me. My left foot still hasn't really recovered and also my left arm is slightly thinner then my right arm (but could also be the big amount of hardcore masturbation)

It sucks, I'm glad you came out unbroken. I was hit by a van that ran a red light when I was younger and it snapped my tibia and fibula, I saw my bone and it was really... red. Recovered 100% though.
I've hit and run a bunch of cars while in my car.

i was once in a car crash. i was walking across a zebra crossing , cigarette in mouth , traversing fairly casually , when an angry man in a bright yellow BMW ploughed straight into me , sending me flying to the ground. I was rather dazed and soon realized i had a few fractured bones. the driver reversed , ever so slowly and stopped a few inches from my torso. he rolled the window down and exclaimed " it's fuck'in smokers like you mate , who fuck my lungs up at the pub , you fuckin scumbag. " Subsequently he rolled the window up and drove off , somewhat over the speedlimit.

I'm sure it was an accident and not an act of god trying to rid the world of just one of the many wastes of time, space, materials etc that you so spectacularly exemplify.

I once jumped from a van in that Beavis and Butthead style tryin' to run at the road speed. Never works. Lots of injuries and pain. I surfed the concrete with my torso for several meters with hands trapped under. Pain pain pain...
Glad you're ok! And get tha fuckin' helmet! If you don't like bicycle helmets use a motocycle one!

fuck cars.
as someone already mentioned, i got hit by two last year!
after the second one, i decided to get a helmet. kind of stupid not to get it after the first time, but i figured getting hit by a car was a one time thing...
little did i know. the second time i ended up in an ambulance.
you might not get a second chance.

Yeah, a cheap motocross helmet without a visor/goggles when you're riding a BMX looks wicked compared to a normal pushbike lid. It practically screams 80s old school.
Glad you're alright Oscillik. Without wanting to sound too preachy (this was definately the driver's fault, after all) it might be an idea to try avoid over, or undertakes past junctions in future. Drivers should always use the rear mirror and the side one for the side they're turning into, indicate, check over their shoulder and then start the turn. Sadly, I'd say less than 5% do all that, even most of the time. On a bike you're more vulnerable, so it's in your interest to try to avoid accidents at all cost. As well as "going up the inside" on left turns (you have to ask "why is that car going slow enough that I can overtake them"- unless it's v. heavy traffic, it's invariably because they're about to turn or have slowed for a hazard you can't see), the other one to look out for is overtaking (to the right), cars that are stopped/slowing to turn left. Often they'll "flash out" drivers at the junction they're turning into, who then proceed to pull out, oblivious to the fact there's a bike coming down the outside.
As I say, don't take it the wrong way or me trying to say it was in any way your fault. I went mental when a mate told me I should have "forseen" a bloke pulling out on me on a roundabout (I couldn't see this car, he was obscured by another car and he couldn't see me either, my right of way, etc. yet decided to just pull out anyway).
Tango: I thought you were in Harlow? Good to see you and hope you're enjoying Canada. If it's definately their fault like your case, I'd get a hire car and ring them up to let them know "I'm hiring a car while I wait for you to pay out my insurance claim, naturally I'll be adding the cost of this onto my claim". I know from bitter experience that it doesn't half make them get a move on with dealing with your claim, as every day is costing them.

not at all mate, i can see your genuine concern :)
most of the time i am usually quite alert, but that morning was a bad one for me - i had already had high stress all week from work, i had a terrible nights sleep...not to mention relationship problems that were bearing down on me so i'd be lying if i were to say i was 100% that morning
talking of Harlow, i was born there :)
