actually, in an effort to be concise, i was imprecise. let me say that there's no doubt in my mind about the artistry involved. by highlighting the fashion element i didn't intend to exclude all other elements of hip hop. but i think even in the artistry hip hop is fashion centric, so much emphasis is put on the look and the pose, even the lyrics are frequently vocal posturing (which i realize is a generalization, there are of course exceptions to the rule). |
