It's been snowing here on and off, it's terribly cold and I
don't have the right clothes for this kind of weather. Apart
from that, things are fine.

quite shit, hello. landlord drunk again [annoying old woman,
doors locked], guy from the almost-new job hasn't called
yet, day passed with nothing done really. having a beer.
waiting for tirdent to finally re-appear on xlt and post
something momentous about electronic music.

and you ?

ha :)

you have to deal with the landlord in the same house /
building as you? i've been ejected from my place... well i'm
in the process of being. going to view another place this
evening. straight across the road from college. fingers
crossed.. apart from that the day's been quite usual and
ordinary. missed lectures, ate lunch, slept through a maths
lecture, sitting in an eiffel programming lab now, posting
here. bleh.

i trust you saw that zappa on crossfire video last night? i
can't remember i saw you post in the thread. it's fucking
gold so it is.

hi. today i went to work. the head chef threw a wobbly
because i cut the baguette on the side of a soup dish. i
thought it was ridiculous, and couldn't take it seriously. i
laughed. i finished work. had a beer, and came home. had a
bath. my ipod has just crashed and apparantly there is no
music on it. it has not snowed today, but it was cold.

me for getting 47% in a test, when he had marked it wrong
and i actually got 77%. tosser. A-level maths sucks.

tridenti doesn't read threads, he just reads the thread
titles. qrter avatar series thread was another example of
this.

ps: she likes to make cakes

yeah, i held myself from linking to the grammar chapter
about "like + verb + -ing".

and that "avatars" thread ....how arrogant can an italian
boy be NOT to learn the basics of the language of the
messageboard he claims to love and know so much ? how do i
make such long sentences when i want to say something in
just a few words ?

ah, I wasn't as much pointing out the awkward grammar
(although the sentence is grammatical, it is a bit weird,
i'll concede that) - I was more poking fun at ... i don't
quite know what. the chauvanism (sp?) of it all.

It gave me a sort of "she enjoys doing my laundry so she's
perfect" impression.

she likes to make cakes = means to me that she happens to
make a cake from time to time and that is NOT really her
hobby.

I'd interpret both "she likes to make cakes" and "she likes
making cakes" as having exactly the same meaning, to be
honest. I think you might be bringing your knowledge of
Polish to bear on your usage of English.. "-ing" being used
as a continuous present tense verbform etc..

The line of distinction between the two has been totally
blurred in modern usage though.. What you say should
be true, but it's not really the case.

exactly - tridenti said that it "might be considered
like a hobby."
