anyone here give me some advice? i've got a technics that i
have used occasionally for scratching. I recently took it
out after a period of storage only to find the arm had
cracked at the joint next to the counterbalance. I glued
this with locktight however i am finding now when i scratch
that the needle is jumping towards the outside of the record
when i do even the most gentle baby scratches. i've tried
using a penny on the needle to try and hold it on the groove
but it actually seems to make it worse. The arm seems fine
to me and i am wondering if the stylus might be the cause
since it got a bit bent briefly at a party when i someone
was cleaning dust of it. Any good burgers out there that can
point me in the right direction?

What cartridge do you use? If it's a stanton 500 or similar
adjust the 2 srews which hold the cartridge; move it
forwards or backwards you may find it cures it if you find
the right place.

But if it's bent it may start to wreck you records!

its just the cartridge that came with it. ahh i'll have a
twiddle and hopefully that will striaghten it out, it just
seems super sensitive at the minute. fingers, toes and balls
crossed this does the trick, cheers sah!

i would assume cracking a tonearm would hurt its stability
or rigidity when scratching

my advice would be replace your tonearm...

spareparts are bloody expensive. had to get a new armrest,
because the old one had a cracked latch and a new
cue-light.

15 quid :/

lucky you didn't have to buy a new arm. hope you learned
your lesson

15 euros

for a spare part

for a sylish turntable.

that's cheap. i was expecting you to say something like 40,
and i wouldn't have been shocked.
