BOC and Mathematics

Im curious because several of the composers that I enjoy
most have their first training in disciplines other than
music. I have a personal interest in this type. Arch, can
you please spare me and everyone else the annoying snipits.
Make up your mind between advising people to 'not be rude'
and being rude yourself. Its funny to laugh at you for a
time, but then it becomes annoying.

rthe whole mysterious part ...
it was exactly the same with aphex twin in older times,
nobody knew his face nor his name, the greatest rumour were
spread aboput him n all
and yes it is to sell more records, it's sad now that rich
is less mysterious, it was part of the magic i think

AFX will always be somewhat mysterious to me. All great
artists and thinkers are.

true, but with sites like this one and joyrex (not saying
it's bad or nothing)
the mystey is somewhat dissipated

Well, I have no interest in his personal life. I find his
creative process interesting and mysterious.

not his personal life... don't fucking care
but like , if i had to discover an aphex record i didn't
knew it existed i'd be more happy than now that i know what
to seek and what to buy...
but yeah it's not like i care THAT much :-)

Yeah I know what you mean e-man. That feeling you have the
first week you discover a new artist and you are racing to
find all of there work; its great.

Yeah its funny to laugh at you Omneignotumus but its starts
to get pretty annoying, you seem to be so close minded that
its realy sad. Cant you just leave me alone, stop it. You
are the most pathetic person I met so far on this board and
I been here for a while.

Leave me alone and stop this bullshit.

who on earth was astar calling a fascist? unless it's on

You have thrown childish insults while I have not, and then
you follow up your insults with things like 'why can't
people be nice and polite'. Its irritating. Everyone on the
board is entitled to their opinion and differences in
opinion make for discussion. Your direct personal insults
can be left out. Your insults are what are pathetic not my
voicing a difference of opinion. Aren't you capable of a
discussion? If you want me to 'leave you alone' then
please, by all means don't direct and insult at me on a
personal level. Why does this seem confusing?

you all think you know so much about mathmatics, and what

"yay! lets' read some kant"

hehe yeah korbben dallas's comment was very kant, especially
with the "a priori". that's cool though, i'm reading his
prolegomena (splng?) metaphysics book now in philosophy; lub
it.

I can't figure out at ALL why Archrival's ranting at the
start of the thread pissed people off. Huh? It was a good
read... I didn't agree with most of it, but there was some
cool ideas. And he wasn't forcing it on anyone... jesus.

Are all you ''PhD, elite formal education'' mathematic types
THIS antisocial? ''you turned the topic into an AOL
chatroom'', ''Curious; what jobs do you people have that you
can post on here throughout business hours?''... uh... what
does that have to do with anything? You're high and mighty
and above the rest of us, you've proved that. :-L You know
everything and Archie knows nothing, and has no right to
post his thoughts on this board. Shame on him.

And for god's sake, don't leave Archie alone. He wants to
call this shit off, and you won't let him. His views were
interesting, if flawed... yours are just depressing to read.
No need to try to embarrass him (which you clearly CAN'T do,
he's above you anyway) by pointing out how ''wrong'' he is.
At this point, nobody cares about your ''Archrival knows
shit about math'' crap.

Well, except me, I'm wasting my time typing this out. :-/

Is it necessary to take a math course in college? I haven't
taken one yet, I hope I never have to. I fucking hate math!
Gives me the shivers.

I actually believe that the universe runs on mathematical
principles, in nature, music, everything.

But I think all that the letter 'Y is 2 and 5 with is 7, and
the letter Y is the question why? And the answer to 7 is
god' stuff [loosely paraphrased]
is a load of crap...

and taoist, I agree with everything you're saying about
BoC.

Omneignotumus: Gravediggaz use mathematical formulas?!?

Also: Elusive, I didn't claim to know anything about math,
but since you did, can you explain to me what exactly BoC is
doing with math, as I asked (in post 112755) above?

Im actually curious about what jobs you people have that let
you time to post messages during the day. Is that offensive?
Im obviously posting during the day.

nah...not really...I'm a web monkey..Mr Code....Look after
about 6 NT Servers & do all sorts...

but...when I get a bit of time today, I'll outline how maths
lies at the bottom of most music...it's fairly simple (it
must be if I can explain it..;)..

But yeah...music is a lot more than just maths...there has
to be some sort of communication going on which implies an
intelligence not just mechanics...I'll get back to this
later...

Ophecks: FINALLY a guy who understands me!!!!! "Ophecks" I
love you ;) right now Im so glad I wanna kisss u or

gay people out there). I didnt meant no harm to anyone just
wanted to type some thaughts about BOC and math thats all.

Yeah you didnt agree with my stuff but you didnt piss on
me....and YES I wasn't forcing it on anyone, just wanted u
to have a good read thats all (I didnt even claim that it
was right or wrong).

Since the first time I spoke to you I always thaught that
you was a intelligent & friendly guy, and now u back me up
like a true brother (remeber I always got your back ;) hehe.
Lets be positive fuck those negative thaughts.

Ophecks thanx for the words of wisdom ;)

"music is a lot more than just maths...there has
to be some sort of communication going on which implies an

importnant.

Yeah, where did all that bad-feeling come from?...this is a
discussion board afterall and if you can't throw out ideas
at each other to discuss then we are in a bad way....

Glad it's got a bit more peaceful now...theres been some
great stuff thrown up in this thread; it's soooo tiresome
when they get lost in the fighting...

THREAD HUG TIME!!!!...

ok im not even gonna talk about all the arguments... cause
it was just too crazy for me to take a stand on it. although
i will say, alot of people made good points, even people who
disagreed.

but whatever

yeah... i didnt dig math in highschool because it was so
boring. they didnt make it interesting. im really sad i dont
know more about it. i think i might buy a book and stuff...

... id love to add math to my music...
