Anything from accustic to electronic.

Mine would have to be the polyphone. If you know any tracks
that use a polyphone let me know, I'm compiling a mix.

Specifically, my favorite synthesizer is the evolver. My
favorite sampler would have to be my mpc1000. Not my
favorites because I have them. I have them because they are
my favorites.

I can't really decide which synth I like best, so my
favorite acoustic instrument would have to be the piano.

piano for me

can someone tell me what a prepared piano is?.. i read that
aphex twin used this method, but i went to wikipedia, but i
didn't understand it.

From what i gather, it is placing objects on the pianos
strings..

I don't see how that would make it sound better??... or does
it give it different reverbrations, like a tremelo on a
guitar?

I'm not sure.

yeah you got the point.
it can make the piano sound completely different, like klick
klack trrr tzik ding.
just listen to some of the piano stuff on drukqs and you'll
get it...

i guess john cage started this.. arvo pärt also has some
very cool prepared piano stuff.

hmm, who else?

one of the most interesting instruments i've seen played is
the glass armonica. it is basically a series of different
sized bowls on a lathe. it is played with moistend fingers,
similar to rubbing the rim of a wine glass to produce a
tone.

It has a very haunting, creepy, circus like sound to it. it
looks like this:

Prepared piano is piano that has a bunch of things added to
it, like nuts and bolts tied to the strings, extra weight
added to the hammers, the hammers replaced with something
else, someone recording the strings being cut and other
stuff like that. Its comparable to circuit bending a piano.
