check out the bollocks he talks at the end
softstep is nothing like soundhack
wtf is a :sound bridge morphing module:
"you’re doing things to sound that just aren’t
physically possible." wtf

about Symbolic Composer`It’s like composing music from
one’s DNA structure", it DOES have functions to use genome
stuff in compositions but i cant see the comparison,i think
hes confused

SoundHack "convulse" LOL i think he means convolve

haha A+ student :D

i dont really know what hes on about "pasting stuff onto the
editor" in symbolic composer, ive only got the demo but
afaics you have to write the stuff in LISP in a built in
text editor

why does every rdevine interview make me feel like he's at a

Music just isn't what it used to be. Now it's
pseudo-science.

I've not heard his music, but from that interview it sounds
like he's played around a lot with his instruments and so
on..

the same program names kept popping up that aphex uses, to
me it sounds like he's researched what aphex twin uses, and
copied his path.. bit wierd.

I don't know.. I've seen that video on NI, with him playing
about on his laptop..not really my taste.

I just looked for devine on NI, and I found his interview,
but I see no video.

hes probably talking about the exile vid, which i think is
cool for what hes doing and his smarts but its a
vainglorious thing all-around

richard devines vid looks like it was capped from an episode
of star trek?? he says a bunch of big words

10-6 angry rant

I have read a number of richard devine interviews, and met
him in person, and when you talk to him he doesn't come
across as being a douchebag or whatnot, he comes across as a
nice guy who just happens to make cool music. In interviews,
he comes across as being that way, because that is the way
he markets himself. Reguardless of what kind of music you
make, you need to do a certain ammount of self marketing and
part of that is portraying and image. Its the way the music
business was set up, and the way it works, and I wish people
would just grow up and accept it instead of whining and
bitching every time someone gets a little bit of attention
for what they are doing.

Or you could punter around blithering on about stupid shit
like a 16 year old non-conformist retard who is always
"keeping it real" and "sticking it to the man" for the rest
of your life. Those kind of people aren't cool. They end up
needing to pick 15 year old girls when they are 35 because
those are the only kind of people who will listen to their
bullshit and take it seriously.

10-8 angry rant

anyone who has met this guy knows he is one of the coolest
and friendliest musicians you will ever meet. if you go up
to him at a show he will talk to you forever about gear and
software and is always super patient and generous with his
knowledge. cheers richard.

"Its the way the music business was set up"
oh, and he's not a part of that
when there's an interview about gear i'd read it for
information on that, not bullshit
i guess he's kidding though, i hate techtalk anyway

Yes he is. This is the last thing I am going to say in this
topic, just because I hate adding to these kind of
discussions, but

1) he is part of that. It doesn't matter to what scale the
person sells records. They are in the music business, and
every single one of these "IDM superstars" have an image
that they have crafted and use to sell their records.

2) native instruments cater their software towards people
that are impressed with the kind of talk that richard devine
uses. Thats why they choose musicians like richard devine to
endorse their software.

native instruments depresses me, it has all that's bad about
'electronic music' (besides good i guess)
watching that exile video or using that electronic
instruments thing (with pre programmed loops by speedy j
amongst others) i get that feeling the most

well all these electronic instruments and learning them
drive me insane most of the time, someone who should know
about them making up nonsense about them isn't helping then
and not real cool.
so i don't mean techtalk but just little chitchat i guess,
like im glad you know what i mean witht the ni thing :)
