Celine Dion makes me want to visit the toilet. Is that what
you mean?

that's the same thing you linked to last night? im on this
really terrible connection atm and i only managed to check
out first 3 samples and i liked it quite a bit. i'd like it
even more if it was better produced though it could be it's
mp3 format fault..what is it?

r40f, wouldn't mind visiting seattle in mid 80's..

Oh, so you've listened to it yesterday. I said I would be
restless in posting this.
The production on the whole album is excellent if you ask
me, but the compression kills it. It's a pity, you're on a
slow connection, because I've got the whole album in my slsk
share.
Łoskot are four polish jazz veterans playing completely
different styles of jazz in their everyday musical life
(melodic/symphonic - Walicki, radical free - Trzaska, rocky
psychodelic - Pawlak and contemporary composition -
Gwincinski). Once in a while they unite and record an album
as Łoskot (eng. trans. - racket). A few years ago they
specialized in more psychodelic spacious 30-min improvised
tracks. On "Sun" they focused on brief compositions with
more electronic stuff going on. I've been listening to it
since I got it a month ago, almost every day.
In one of the recent threads you said that you didn't want
to venture into jazz because there is too much to embrace.
Well, it's basicly how I feel about jazz too, but sometimes
I make an exception for something like Loskot, Robotobibok
and more widely known guys like Branford Marsalis, Ken
Vandermark (especially FME), Berne, Taborn. Just thought it
might also interest you.

As for the question in the topic: I feel this way when I
listen to dub or Muslimgauze. I hate dub though - too many
reggae friends in high school.

too drunk to write correctly or to check the grammar.. going
to sleep..

i only know robotobibok and vandermark out of all those
people.. here's me being honest; not a big fan of either of
those two im affraid :)

as for these Łoskot guys; maybe i should get a track or
two ripped properly for a better idea :)

Music never really makes me want to go hop on a plane to its
place of origin, but it often makes me want to be
spontaneously whisked away to a certain place during a
certain time. A precise location rather than a general
country. I'll listen to some bluegrass thingamabob and I'll
want to be in the bayou or whatnot (hanging around with Burt
Reynolds and the guy that was also in Robocop, optimally).
Where that bayou is and what's beyond it, I dunno. I guess
whatever song comes next defines what's at the end of the
river.

i actually think of certain places i've been before or have
passed my whole life while i listen to certain tracks. Maybe
this means something? Like, that i need to goto that place
and listen to the music that brought this place up in my
mind? Perhaps i'll see aliens !

Ah, ok, then I got your taste all wrong. However, when you
finally start exploring jazz, don't say no to Tim Berne.

when i listen to a song in a place i like, when i listen to
it again i always want to go back to that place. when i
listen to Plaid's Spokes album, i always remember being on
trains in rural Quebec. i really want to go back, everytime
i listen to it.

man, gotta go to jamaica sometime too.

Never been there, but as far as I know, your options are:

1- Stay in a resort for tourists all the time

2- Go to see the real Jamaica and prepare to be beaten

(anyway, ppl usually have too much fear, so it might be just
some losers opinion. I have traveled ghettos in africa
(Senegal, Gambia) all by myself, and I was the only white
you could find in miles, with no problems (at least not
important ones))

i guess i'll have to take the beating..i'd prefer not to see
any resorts at all, fuggin hate that..

That was my point Mr. Tolstoyed!

Just show respect, never fear, be polite, smile, and there
you go...

And for the topic, whenever I hear cuban music, I want to go
back here... (I'm one of those guys sitting, not the
guahiros)

Cuba has been a VERY IMPORTANT experience for me...

In many senses.

And sure we know about tourist resorts in Mallorca. Wish I
had a really big Bulldozer!

i think about this occasionally, especially listening to
jamaican reggae, but the stuff i like best has come and gone
in jamaica, rocksteady and soulful reggae of the late
sixties and early seventies.

so i agree with r4of, i'd want to visit different places and
other times. lately i've been thinking i'd like to see
james brown performing live in 1973...

i'd also like to travel to morocco to see the master
musicians of jajouka.
