Its a sophisticated one with simple controls.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2006-02-06 03:46 [#01835575]

You can add as much edge to the sound, or make it as smooth
as you want.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2006-02-06 03:48 [#01835576]

Altho if you want one that will take you weeks to master
then theres the native instruments Vokator. But that one
takes way too much cpu, and has so many 'specific'
modulation options, it can kill the musical process by being
too technical.

you should ask impakt, hes the vocoder overlord of the lost
world of vocoded vocoder death star.

you could use the free mda vocoder plugin. this is a download
for a whole batch of mda plugins.

on this vocoder you pan the modulation and carrier signals
hard left and hard right, or vice versa (there's an option
to swap signal sides), before they reach the vocoder. so,
for example, you may pan the vocal signal hard left, and
then the desired 'pitched' signal hard right.

For free, AnalogX is the best. Altho it sucks that you can
only use mono files.

I also think the one in Cubase is pretty cool

dunno about vokator, but with mda talkbox it works like
this:
1.insert mda talkbox as effect on send track 1
2.set voice on 1. track and route audio to sent track 1 pan
left
3.make track 2 with that melody voice is singing ( d,f,g,d
and so on) with some vsti (sounds like some kind of bass)
and route to send track 2 panned right. tweak synth sound
till it sounds like you want.

you may have to add eq in voice track and boost up some
frequencies for better modulation and use some eq in send
track too.
hope it helps.

you know, that thread i wrote some time ago about me being
pissed off because my track got corrupted by some shitty
plugin? That plugin was an mda one

cygnus: read up on how a vocoder works, all these devices
will make much more sense to you then.

fah: unfortunately i don't remember that thread, but bad
luck.

1.track with audio source (modulator), panned left, routed
to send track with mda talkbox;
2.track with synth sound (carrier), panned right, routed to
send track with mda talkbox;
3.send track with mda talkbox.
thats all.
