Albums you own but...

... still haven't listened to. Is there a lot ?

You can distinguish purchases from mp3s.

Personnaly I've got around 30 CDs that I haven't listened to
yet. Because I found them really cheap or because they would
have been hard to find later, and because I don't want to
listen to them too quickly not to spoil the pleasure of
listening to some other albums.

mostly free ones though, but there's one that I bought and
never got through yet, and it's the Supersilent 1-3.

every record I buy I try to listen at least 2 times. I
usually buy 1, sometimes 2 records at once. but I have lot's
of new mp3's (like the xlt sets) that are still untouched
and waiting.

there are some albums i like very much but have only
listened to once.

sometimes i don't know why ('he left us alone but sometimes
shafts of light grace the corner of our bedrooms' by a
silver mount zion, for example). sometimes there's a
reason... like 'sachiko bar' by sachiko m; this is more a
piece of contemporary art/an experience to me than really
music. i like the concept of it and the aesthetics of it but
i'm not sure i would listen to it again... (it's a very
particular album, deserves its own topic by the way). or
'bone machine' by tom waits: this album is like a
nightmare.

there is one cd i have bought but haven't listened to in its
entirety, a r.l. burnside live album. i bought it after
having listened to some mp3s and thought it was great, but
when i got the cd, i found it boring. all tracks sounded the
same and i didn't like them so much. i tried it two or three
times, never got past track three or four...
only happened to me once.

I don't have that problem. I make a point of putting CDs
into my car CD wallet, and going through it. That way new
CDs I buy get listened to rather than left on the wayside.

No.

I hate buying music in bulk.

Sometimes I just dont appreciate certain things, like
autechre, or drill, or ambient... so its better to save them
for when your in the mood.

exactly, that's why I prefer not spoiling my future pleasure
by listening to something I wouldn't appreciate right now

there are things that I've bought and skipped through and
thought "that's shit, why did I buy that?"

They just stay on the shelf and never get a proper listen.

In that case, why not save your money and not waste on CDs
you aren't going to listen to? Or buy the CDs when you want
to listen to them? Erm, i'm probably stating the obvious
here.

Everything I own is made of sterner stuff, I don't buy
anything without having become one with it. I do download
and archive some sub-par shit that I'll never listen to,
though. It's a disease.

Some stuff quickly gets out of print. Btw I can't use slsk
where I live and have to wait for the holidays to download
stuff. During this time I like to have stuff that I can
discover anytime i want, that's why I always keep some
records unlistened.

No, you are right. I have listened to it a lot of times, it
has its moments, but it's not the best autechre LP.
