it's the only way a girl will ever dance to 'idm', my friend. i remember ae at roskilde last year. i don't think i saw ONE girl in the front there. i was sort of spastically headbanging along with a crazy swede, and then there was this shirtless, sweaty danish guy who started going crazy and yelling out obscenities/track titles. autechre fans are bizarre. great concert, though, if a bit lacking dynamically. all they did was POUND and POUND for 1 1/2 hour. |

Two years ago (almost to the day) Aphex Twin and Luke Vibert played together at an annual festival that tours around Australia (the Big Day Out, for all you Ausies). I spent the whole set (90minutes I think, but I really can't remember) dancing like a FREAK with one of my mates girlfriends. She is a SICK dancer (danced with her at a wedding only a month or so again), old skool poppn'n'shit, like a mad-little-elf-thing, and I was cutting loose with whatever you want to call it that I do. It was the single greatest musical/dance experience of my life. The music was INSANE, starting off thick and broken, and ending up just full-on mad carnival shit, and her and I were feeding off each other,combining moves, shadowing, mimicing. I will never forget it. It defines my relationship with this girl, and we never fail to mention it when we meet up. The best freak dancing ever :) |
