I saw this on Ireland's Irish-language tv station last night. (This station tends to be fairly hip and show pretty good cult movies and was the first european station to bring us Curb Your Enthusiasm a years before anyone else. They also have pretty slick music in their soundbites. ) Anyway its the film that Archrival has used for many Boc videos he's done so it was pretty cool to see the thing in its entirety. I can see now why its a rich source for Boc-like imagery as it feature very Herzog-esque vistas of 70's urban and suburban sprawal as well as wierd and wonderfull closeups of 70's american iconic images of billboards, early computers, cars, offcies, desks, sidewalks etc. The colours are bright and very 8mm ish with lovely sunspots and bleached out californian sunshine imagery. The slow-mo explosions at the end are beautifull and the tripped-out desert scenes are amazing. All Boc fans should see tis movie and well doen to Archrival for spotting. I wonder where he heard that BoC loved the movies? |

it's very nostalgic and dreamy... but with that all important hint of malice too. The dialogue is pretty far out too and amarently harrison ford was siupposed to be in it alot but after editing he's only in one little scene....(according to imdb.. i blinked at that scene) |
