I know some people that have alarmingly little interest in
music. An alien concept to me but not really that weird. And
it's never a TOTAL lack of interest.

Yeah, I remember an old man saying he didn't really like
music. Nothing beyond Jingle Bells. I also know people who
have very vapid taste in music and care little about music
in general.

Used worked with a guy named James who had very
little interest in music altogether.

Very funny guy though. Still hang out with him from time to
time.

music was evil.

i think a lot of people just arn't that bothered,, they just
feedo n what is brought to them on a plate by the tv or
radio.

it makes me sad when i realise that some people i encounter
do this, because it just makes me want to grab them and say
'there is much much more interesting music out there than
what youve been listening to'.. because since they don't
have much effort, they will never find the music THEY like
personally.

i guess then again, theres the factor of people really
liking pop and stuff, but i just dont feel that can couinter
balance not looking at the whole picture ( whole music scene
)..

I think its very odd to not be into any music, perhaps can
be simplified: those who can't be arsed with engaging in
music, those who are very simple and cannot connect on any
level with music, and those who are so zen and enlightened
that music is good nor bad merely a distraction...?

I remember seeing a review on Amazon by a guy who didn't
really like music, but had just discovered Wierd Al and now
he was totally digging this music thing :)

i think music is the thing i like the most in the life, but
the idea of not liking music is not that
incomprehensible to me. i've made several people listen to
my favourite tracks and they thought "well, it's ok", or
just didn't like them... (to tell the truth, i even prefer
when they don't like them at all...) - who hasn't done that
anyway? just imagine that some people have this reaction for
every track.

myself sometimes i'd listen to a track someone finds
absolutely great and mindblowing and it would be just
okay/pretty nice for me. (most autechre, for example)

all in all i think it's harder to me to get for example why
would some people want to join the army, vote for george w
bush, want to become porn stars, or how some people can be
able to work for hours and hours and hours straight at
something that drives me mad.

i used to be like that, because all this common indie/rock
shite all sounded the same to me and i was so bored with it,
and i didnt know of anything else. then electronica came
along!

I've known 2 or 3 people who have very little interest, 1
being my mum.

I wish I didn't love music, it's hard work.

my good friend james has no interest in music. he has liked
maybe 3 songs ever.
1. the humpty dance by Digital Underground
2. Jeremy by Pearl Jam
3. 2 princes by Spin Doctors.

he pretty much finds a song he likes and then listens to it
on repeat for a few days untill he's sick of it.

to rhythms and i get annoyed and
wish i had never listened to music
i mean i cant not think musically.

I think since whenever I first made some sort of music, I
really started analysing music and listening differently,
sort of interacting with it more, thats when it became such
a big thing...

i would probably prefer no interest in music over interest
in shit music.

yeah i definately listen to music differently now i write it
too, i can hear the individual layers, when samples start
and finish etc (in electronic stuff anyway)

Only one of my close mates isn't heavily into music, but he
still buys stuff fairly regularly. I tend to find I have
very little in common with people who have no interest in
music (any genre) at all.
