get my music out.

not really. most small labels don't really have distribution
power or proper capital for decent promotion, and most
larger labels won't risk signing someone unestablished.

BIYC is my best bet. You know that demo on FL "Aren't You
Clever"? I took the vocal and tried making something around
it. Check it folks

The way to do it is sign up to every netlabel who'll have
you.
Become hated throughout the electronic music world by
spamming your stuff on every messageboard you can find, even
tenuously related to music.

Once a netlabel has done a cd-r release of your stuff, you
can use that as a bargaining tool to get onto a small IDM
label. Once you're there, change your style for cutup breaks
and pads/breakcore/ragga derived melodic idm/whatever else
is in fashion (read on Planet Mu) at the time. Eventually
you'll get signed by a slightly larger IDM label, perhaps
even M3rck/Mego. In spite of the fact that 90% of idm fans
haven't heard of you, let alone 0.00001% of "real people",
you then have to start acting like an uppity primadonna,
ignoring emails, turning your nose up at offers of
collaboration, slating all other IDM. Make fun of people who
ask even highly complex midi/Reaktor/Supercollider/MaxMSP,
calling them "Stupid n00bs". Make constant reference to the
fact you've "been in the game for years" and constantly bang
on about the time you met Aphex/Lustmord/Autechre/etc and
they said they "liked your demo" (neglect to mention that
they never followed up on it).

The Wire will then run a piece on you. NB: make sure you've
come up with some wacky/geeky conceptual way of claiming to
make music by this time; Think something along the lines of
"a custom groovebox-like program I knocked up in a mixture
of x86machine code MaxMSP and a port of Supercollider that I
did. It outputs to 8 seperate tape reels, which are then
processed through an analogue granular synthesis unit I made
myself. It's then all output through a valve amp, before
being mastered on wax cylinder." Admitting you use absynth,
floops and Recycle just won't cut it by this point.
Vehemently claim "you don't get it!" When people hear your
music and say, "yes, it's nice, but you could do that in a
fraction of the time with an EA-1 and supertrigga".

It's then pretty much guaranteed that warp/skam/mu et al
will sign you.

Honestly tho. Mu will sign anybody who sends them a demo.

Seriously. Two of my friends are on mu. Not netfriends, real
friends. They are the only two people I know who have sent
demos to mu, and they have both been published.

no
means your stuff is REALLY REALLY shit if you didnt get
signed to Mu (nah, that was too harsh, ignore it, got a link
to your stuff btw?)

I was on a netlabel right after 3 weeks of publishing track
into the wide open world of teh internets. Dunno what
happened, but it got me in touch with two other labels too
ontop of that. Now all i do is suck acid and release EAPs
...

I've never been on a netlabel.

The only way I've got my music out is by putting it there
myself.

BIYC may have some giginger releases but that is all.

Using the term "netlabel" to describe BIYC is as
misleading/as much of an understatement as calling the
Bugatti Veyron a "car".

thread and put your post in there.

pinned in the near future, somewhere on the interweb.

Ok guys. I can release some stuff for fun on BIYC. :D Just
not yet. As for my serious stuff, I just decided to make my
own net label. It's not really a .com yet. I need to sign up
for pay-pal or something so I can pay for the domain, which
shouldn't be too big. If anyone else wants some stuff put
out on it, just ask me. BEEP MACHINE There's what I have
so far, I won't post the actual tunes of mine yet though,
I'm waiting on my friend to send back the vocal parts.

that's a nice-looking website. but why would you start a
netlabel in a post-netlabel world? it's passe now.

Well, you know. I thought it would be a cool idea. I just
made all that stuff, graphics and pages in the past 2 hours,
so it may be sloppy. But, I want to do this the same reason
the others do: to get my music and other's up to some
professional level, at least a little tiny bit. I'm new to
it, so I don't expect it will ever go huge unless hard word
and perspiration pays off or I get a massive stroke of luck.

Your music sucks dick and you're all about fame.

Start living in the real world man, get real.... Get your
hands dirty with making music, and learn, learn and learn.

I'm going by the track you have on your 'myspace'

If that track was a piss-take then i am sorry and i take
back what i said.

Well, I threw it together in about 2 minutes just to have
something playing in the meantime. Does it sound that way?
Yes. Do I have better stuff? Yes. Should I put it up? We'll
see. It's ok. Criticism doesn't always have to be good. The
hastily thrown together song there deserves what it got from
you.

you know. you sick dirty man.
