Im into electronica and i absolutely adored the "golden
age" of d&b when Photek, source direct, goldie,j majik were
the monarchy. With their experimental tecnoish style. Who of
modern artist are doing that these days please . As i miss
that sort of sound. Please improve the quality of my ear
health. Thanks beatburglar

dnb is not dead. Artists like D-bridge, Kase and Sabre,
Artificial intelligence, logistics, d-kay, klute, high
contrast, sub focus, syncopix are making some incredible
music with fresh breaks and drum samples. Don't judge a
scene by the jump up shit you hear on the commercial mixes
etc; people like pendulum who are pure cheese, dnb continues
to innovate and evolve. If your into techstep ed rush +
optical, photek, hive are still making great stuff.

It still remains the most fulfilling music to mix and has an
incredible rate of music coming out - you just have to dig
deep for the real quality.

BREAKCORE MONOPOLY!

Rustic: Whilst I think Pendulum live are fairly weak, I do
like their studio stuff. Not exactly innovative, but it's
catchy and enjoyable.

fresh breaks? you mean the amen?

isnieZot your displaying your ignorance of the genre there
mate! dnb has a wider range of breaks than most dance
music.

Pendulum really don't work for me, they are really reliant
on the sound system and i hate the live drums... they have
serious skills but it doesn't work for me

Not really into techstep myself, more into the soulful
mellow dnb

oh lighten up, I know all of these names.
I'm not saying they are bad. I enjoy them actually. but they
are far from innovative. I'm not saying dnb is bad but it's
a style that has stagnated quite a bit imo.

saying that, here listen to a d&b track I made
LAZY_dnb

pendulum aint that bad. admittedly its not progressive in
any way but isniezot's right, it doesnt mean its actually
bad...

there is some really dope pendulum, but their newer stuff is
awful, in my opinion.

you can say that dnb has stagnated, but in my world, seeing
shy fx and dieslboy about 2 weeks ago, the shit is going
pretty strong. then again, i am in the united states and
things over here are a little different, i imagine.

To be innovative it doesn't have to be beatcore techy
stuff... I'm talking about producers creating fresh sounds
as a whole. Which if you listen to labels like Hospital,
Soul:R, Liquid V - there really is some great stuff out
there.

Calyx used to be much better when it was two of them. Now
it's just one its not too good.
A lot of drum n bass is rubbish nowerdays, but its been
going that way for a long time.
However that isn't necessarily a bad thing, because as it
becomes more mainstream you can play you heavy underground
stuff and people may actually listen now, instead of holding
their heads screaming, running for the hills due to the
repetative BOOM CHA......BOOM CHA then sick synth squel
MUUUUAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHUUUUUAAAWWWWAAAAWWWW. (then more BOOM
CHA BOOM CHA, then 3/4 thru a mellow bit then more BOOM
CHA.....BOOM CHA)
