Sure, there's a lot of crap out there, but like every genre
there's a lot of losers but some winners. I'm a fan of Del
the Funky Homosapien, though secretly, my guilty pleasure is
Busta Rhymes (he's rap though), particularly Extinction
Level Event and When Disaster Strikes. Not too keen on his
later stuff. I dig Run DMC too.

Been jamming to a lot of Tribe and the Roots lately. I
enjoyed the small "alternative" rap movement that lasted for
a bit in the 90s. Maybe somebody can recommend me some
material along this line.

Of course! I love his implementation of graffiti and
breakdancing into his booty-shaking acid beats. He moves the
ladies, yo! He flosses the MAD programs.

in all seriousness, i like Public Enemy, Run DMC,
Ultramagnetic MC's

also if they count, Antipop Consortium and Beans

definition of Hip Hop / Rap is so loose now, so i'm not even
sure if i got the genre's right

they're black acts, using dope beats and wicked rhymes

i agree. it seems that the musical production is improving
in quality, but I can't fucking stand half the MCs on radio
now. I also dig Public Enemy.

I've been meaning to pick up some Antipop Consortium. Anyone
here heard of Atmospheres? (is that the right name?
Hmmm....)

i have the Arrhythmia album by Antipop Consortium (girlfiend
got it me for christmas, along with the Beans stuff)

fucking excellent

you think the production is getting better? i think it's
getting worse....nothing can beat public enemy number
one...there's gotta be about 5 tracks in that song, if
that....but it's genius

don cha know, don cha know

i forgot about them :(

yes i like the Beasties, i just refuse to buy the latest
album :(

there's probably loads of stuff i like, i just can't
remember it all right now!

i'll check that one out.

i prefer rougher stuff too, you can probably tell from my
music.

i dunno - i hear a few tracks here that catch me with a beat
but then are ruined by some talentless ass coming in with
his pathetic fourth-generation rhymes. These days it seems
rappers are more concerned with shout-outs and being loud.
At least Public Enemy had something to say in their tracks.

though i will admit, if i hear another song with that
annoying chirping synth line and that psuedo-trance blip in
the melody I'm gonna start bustin' caps.

Q-Bert is interesting - what he had to say in Scratch turned
me on to him, though I have yet to pick up any releases from
him.
