yo XLT raps!
just reading the music hardware list and thinking about my
(and others) origins of making tracks before we bought the
kit and computers.
anyone else out there used to make pre-sampler tape edit
tracks?

so heres the challange . . get your cassette recorder and
your record deck.
grab a load of vinyl and get busy with the pause button.

send your creations into this post. . .
thats right chop up your favourite electronic records with a
stunning D90 minutes of sampling time :)

you dont have to do it. . . not really a mix tape, much
shorter recordings. build beats etc from fast pause button
edits. . .im sure some of you know what im getting at :)
if you dont have a tape deck then get with the future!
DCC or 8TRACK or BETAMAX or MD is ok i guess......... any
rules?

USed to do this with a mate in school. Sadly, like most of
my teenage stuff, I never took it seriously, so didn't
bother to save any of it.

I did this. I found this shitty tape deck that whenever you
pressed record a certain way, it would overdub a section of
what you were recording overtop of what was on there before.
If I had my head together, I probly would have made some
tape loops to make some wicked ambient stuff, but I never
realized the possibility until it was too late.

ive lost the tape deck I used to be able to layer with

sometimes you could hear the other side of the tape playing
backwards too, that was wicked fresh

record layers?

hey yeah, i used to stick brown tape over the erase bit on
the tape-head and ya could get loads of muddy layers of shit
goin on, and moving the azimuth screw would fkk the
recordings up too:)...i properly fucked up my mums
midi-system doin endless double-tape deck bouncing sessions
haha
high speed dubbing..:) how acid was that when it first came
out eh
