first native indian to be president of a south american country (Bolivia). Finally someone REALLY socialist at least on the paper... What do you think about it ? U think he will succeed in giving back bolivian gaz to its people and protect coca cultivators ?

seems to be a pipe dream, giving back to the people and coca cultivators going un-fucked-with would be a pretty sizable feet...

yeah for sure...south america has had some rough times (to be brutally simplistic) - and if there werent so many monetary rewards for the US we wouldnt touch it (what would we touch if we didnt want money?)

I think it's an incredible event, and can't quite believe it's actually happened.
This is an interesting article written before the election but makes for an interesting read.
South America has become a very progressive place politically
with the worker groups of Argentina, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela
and the World Social Forum in Brazil.
Viva La Revolucion!

This is great news for all those who oppose neo-liberalism. I'm not sure how much Morales can get done (look at Lula in Brazil - though this guy is more the 'real thing'), but its a sign that the people of Latin America don't want to go down the road of advanced capitalism.
I wonder how long the US can keep its hands to itself. I think imperial overstretch is the only thing saving Chavez's arse.

This "Revolucion" and these populist movements have been going for decades. It's just the US keeps crushing them.
I doubt this will be an exception. Bush already voiced his opposition and "concern" about Morales' plans for Bolivian natural resources and coca plantation-workers.
