So i went to my flatmate's freind, Paolo's house in the ocuntry on the weekend to his John-Peelesque top 50 party.
He started at 8pm and plays 7 tracks in sequence from 50, then displays the titles afterwards. It was less nerdy than it souinded and made for a n excellent nights drinking, chatting about music and meeting lovely girls!
In there were Autehcre's "LCC", 3 Analord tracks, BoC's "Dayvan Cowboy", loads of The Fall (about 15 tracks!), Archade Fire, 1 or two pop songs and other indei stuff.
The guy had a room FULL of records, tapes, DVDs and CD's and collects EVERYTHING. He had all of AFX and Autechre releases! He said the place was insured for 100K.
Number one was a real ,let down. The Cuban Boys john peel trinute song...a hokey cheesey techno track with john peel samples.
afterwards he playted a medley of his last 18 number 1's and i was glad to har "boy/girl" song in there as well as flaming lips, pulp and marrs.
What hoot!
