Have any of you heard any Super Audio CDs? How much better
do they sound than normal CDs?

SACD ? hm. after "super quality" flac codecs , aac,
dvd-audio, 5.1ds, now theres super audio. i wonder if this
musical placebo will ever stop.
people are forgetting that sound recordered in normal
conditions ( eg.studio ) will never be perfect, thus digital
mastering that "repairs" the sound is kinda overrated, and
its a paradox. the best instrument ? human ear. and theres
no way to replace what you can hear ( live ) with what you
can remaster. on any type of gear. unless your ear has real
capability of feeling the difference between few merely
different khz's bitrates,then yes - that would deserve a
cover in times, and proper medical examination.

SACDs have been out since 1999, maybe they will catch on now
that the PS3 supports them.

SACD requires dedicated SACD hardware. It isn't going to be
enjoyed unless you have the equipment to replicate the
quality, such as a nice pre-amp and electrostatic speakers.

I remember seeing a whole section of SACDs on play.com years
ago, strikes me as something that won't catch on

I got bjork's medúlla on sacd but since I don't have an
sacd player I can only hear the cd part. and therefore I
can't answer this topic's question. so I don't know why I'm
replying.

in my experience dvd-audio sounds lusher. but maybe my sacd
player just isn't that great, who knows?
