Is anyone good with HTML code?

I need to find out how to have it so if I have pictures
posted on a page I created, no one can right click, or if
they do right click, a message box will pop up and say
something along the lines of "Don't be a thief!"

Thanks if you can help.

why? it's annoying.

people can right-click the picture to save it too, not just
to get its url.

There are ways round that very easily.
You can get javascript code from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noright.htm.

BTW strickly speaking it isn't HTML that does all the
trickery, its normally javascript. HTML just does the
layout, it can't do any processing really.

that's javascript, not html, but why the hell do you want to
do that? if people really want to get the pics, it's easy to
go around that script...

if you want a way around it, use this:
http://www.misterbuster.com/mistersourcer.asp.

So as you can see. its a waste of time really. the only
tricky way round it is to use redirects from cgi or
something.

you don't even have to do that.

first of all, most browsers can disable javascript.

secondly, view -- source, get address of image, enter adress
in url bar.

just make it easier on people if they really want the
picture that much.

you have to be pretty good at just html to stop people
clicking pictures. or maybe pretty bad at html and cock up
all the tags so they cant see anything!

i think your looking for javascript. and dont bother; just
make it low res with a copyright watermark.

Make your whole site a streamed Windows media video that no
one can save nor take a screen shot of.

the best thing is to actually not make a page on the
internet at all if you really don't want your pictures to be
stolen.

Haha! That would actually be a good idea. The whole site
could be a time-based media form!

drunken mastah is right.

the easiest way would be to make the whole site a flash
site. an example of this is the glade festival picture gallery.

still, there is a way (as giginger pointed out to me) to get
around this, download the swf, decompile it, and strip the
images.

HTML is no match for me, I'll just do a screen capture.

huzzah!

Ok, I know this is a lame question, but would I use
Macromedia Flash for that? I've never tried doing something
of the sort, and I'm not too good with computers for this
kind of stuff. Hopefully I can learn.

Well, most people won't go through that trouble. I'm just
trying to make an interactive gallery where people can rate
and leave comments.

Flash is good cause it doesn't let you save images by right
clicking.

Well then, I'll have to learn how to use that and buy it.
Mos' def'. Any other programs that will help me with this
before I go out on my shopping spree?

Wha'ts so important about preventing people nicking your
images?

Perhaps it would make more sense to get the site up, then
maybe get some traffic to your site first?

Horse before cart, etc.

I have some experience in this, and believe me, people wont
nick your pics unless they are VERY good. In fact I wish
people would nick mine.

Things u have to care about - speed of download, clear
display of images, usability. Also, use wordpress and
customise the CSS to seamlessly integrate comments on your
site for free - a feature I will add to my portfolio when I
have the time.
