some of that Squarepusher jazz stuff would do in a lift -
its always tame and quiet music in lifts.

There's no debate: Love Is Blue, the ultimate piece of
elevator music. And I love it. I think it's a Paul Mariat
song, but it's been rerecorded several times over - I've
heard at least three-four versions. You might remember this
piece of music from a very special episode, where it played
a central role in the story, in Chris Carter's Millennium,
episode 220.

ENOCH LIGHT!1

Granted, it would have to be one very groovy elevator.

Eno's Music for Airports, as long as the elevator is, er, in
the airport... And I'd agree with what was said abt
Squarepusher's Music is Rotted One Note. Also FSOL and The
Orb have some intensely dull moments, so they'd work too.
And Surfing on Sine Waves is quiet enough in places,
especially the last track. Oh, and an album called FFWD>> by
FFWD. Not that well known, that one.

I like the idea of anonymous, mass produced music with no
artistic merit. It's perverse because we are expected to
value "real" music with feelings and integrity over elevator
muzak.

Yeah, it's an interesting concept. Erik Satie made
'furniture music' to be heard in this way. In fact, the
inlay card to Artificial Intelligence II has some discussion
of this issue. But, if taken too seriously, it is a little
over-earnest. Possibly.
