I CHALLENGE YOU

I challenge you... to make Unique Electronic music,
something that doesn't pander to "lush melodies, fucked up
beats", that isn't "electroacoustic", nor breakcore, nor
r'n'b with an IDM twist.. it's not easy... or is it?

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2005-12-09 19:07 [#01797229]

so.. this doesn't have lush melodies, then?

it's a good track, but I'd change some of the sounds/samples
for the drums and percussion...

also, I don't think I can do unique electronic music, so I
won't be participating... however, I think that certain
tracks on the Exquisite Corpse project may fit your
requirements.. I'm not sure, though...

What would you change the sounds/samples to?

To be honest I thought it was direct and honest, honestly

well, I just thought some of the drumsounds sounded a bit
plastic-ish and odd... kind of out of place. it can possibly
be changed by some tweaking too, but I don't know...

the melody instrument is lovely, though...

you know what. I'll give it a go. I'll try to do a small
thing and perhaps it's good, perhaps it's honest, honestly.

was just sticking my balls on the table and saying "Here,
look at them fuckers"

leotards with torches.

you set me onto something... listened through again with
headphones. you either need to EQ/fix those drums or use new
sounds... either that, or it's because it's a 128kbps mp3.

or it's just meant to be like that and it doesn't need
changing at all.

I can't hear anything wrong with it at all.

..and just so it isn't lost in letters which form words
which have one single meaning: the first sentence; "so..
this doesn't have lush melodies, then?
" is a compliment!

well, I can't really imagine why he'd want it to sound
un-eq'd or whatever. right now, the drums have no "space" or
whatever that fancy word is, and all the sounds appear to be
equally loud, which isn't very loud compared to the melody,
so it drowns on occasions. anyway, let's see what he himself
says.

Seperation is great and putting things in their proper place
is okay but it's surely secondary to the overall thing.

yes, yes. I liked the track, and I actually already saved it
and added it to the playlist.. I just thought it'd be better
if he fixed the sound quality of the drums a bit.. I know
nothing about eq, though, so whenever I export one of my
songs and hear that the drums or something sounds like ass,
I just use different samples (hence the first suggestion).
anyway, it's time I stopped taking over the thread. I've
said what I think of the track I think...

the synth from arched maid via rdj, but not as good.

yeah, I'm probably a bit too tired for eloquence, though I'm
never any good at really making myself understood in
english.

will post back about second track tomorrow, but right now I
can say that I'm loving that melody instrument and the
compression-ish effect of it! it's better than the first
imo.

hahaha

i will say that... i like drums on the greatest ape just
fine... the synths are surprisingly harsh and i like the
riffs you've got in there. the delay-pauses are fantastic.
most people don't bother writing decent synth riffs, or
perhaps they can't, but you've got an ear for it. as any
listener of past GA works could tell you...

parking space is also rocks, but i feel like it's kind of a
tease at the end. it feels like it is about to start
rocking out even more, but then - it's over! i like these
songs and will save them as i have all your other music.

the synths are a bit annoying, but the melody's fine. you
should also sharpen the beats (or maybe it's just the
128...).
