Wrong.

I'm not asking which big beat records you used to listen to
eleven years ago, I'm stating as an objective fact that IF's
1998 neo-electro smash "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" is
the most influencial dancefloor record of the last decade.
Download it, listen and realise the genius.

Space Invaders are Smoking Grass wasn't very original and it
sounded shit.

I'd say Da Funk is more important

I'm talking about dancefloor tracks. "Space Invaders..."
wasn't amazingly original, but it completely changed dance
music in it's own quiet way. There were lots of other
electro-producers during the 90's, but IF was the first to
do a dance-pop song. That track influenced the whole
electroclash/IDJ gigolo thing, plus shitloads of producers
like Legowelt and Tiefschwartz. All that has filtered down
over the last five years into cheesy commercial house tracks
like "Push Me" and "Drop the Pressure". Loads of electro and
techno DJ's I've met have said they thought it was a seminal
record.

Underworld - born slippy was pretty crucial in the big
scheme of things, don't you th ink?

i think thats over 10 years old aswell. it's quite difficult
to ascertain a particular importance of one record, but if
you're talking about underworld most people tend to cream
themselves off to Rez. but thats even older and therefore
doesn't qualify either.
