Strange that one of the most hyped Warp-releases of the year
have not been discussed yet. So what do you think?
Personally, I think the album is an OK+ Three to four good
tracks, but after 40 mins I usually get a bit tired of the
Jackson-sound.

i quite like it, there's some really accessible music on the
album.

not the best release of the year by far, but still pretty
damn good.

in 2023 people will say it's a "classic warp release".

it's one of my 2005 favs. the album just flows for me. good
job monsieur jacksssonn.

I can see how you'd come to that conclusion. basically he
does a couple of neat cut-up tricks and spices up his music
with it and all though that works very well and is
enjoyable, it does start to get on my nerves after a couple
of tracks.

so I would say I like the album, but not really as an album.

This release really reminds me of all the 80's stuff that
used short, stab-like samples played on big ol' Fairlights.
You know, like Art of Noise, Scritti Politti, etc.

I will keep my opinion until see him on the stage in live..

very few artist are as same good on stage as they are in
their albums..
Jamie Lidell is a very good example of what u make in a
studio sound good but in live sound better..and for me,thats
the key..u get me?

just listening now

reminds me of mouse on mars crossed with a dash of chris
clark.

hearing a few piano sounds.. seems to be something popping
up recently since chris clark and aphex got that little ball
rolling again

anyway... i like it.. very groovy

Very good album. I quite like this jackson and his computer
band. Its pretty much every kind of music thrown into a
lump.

i've really developed a passional HATE for the name "..And
His Computer Band", but the music in that case makes up for
it big time

This really, really reminds me of Art of Noise or Yello or
something. Like an updated version of that sort of sound.
Using lots of little stab samples rather than big long
loops.

Finally i saw him in live,last thursday@social
_London..puff..what can i say..the album sound really good
but in live is so bouring..the "Live" software looped in
2hours track and a 9lines U-Control 33 for manipulate
them..and making no sense in his way mixing and selecting
his own stuff..but he look cool ..i love it..with these
ramone's style hair-tinny mostauche and a very pink shirt
was looking cool..by the way..Tiga was around having a drink
and i dont think that he liked what he saw-heard there.

Giginger played a track on "The Cut" last night and it
reminded me of bit meddler crossed with girl talk and the
color silver.

I liked it.

In a hopelessly shit year for music, this album was a rare
treat. A little bit of fun and sexyness injected into teh
IDMZ.

as cheesy as it sounds, jackson put the 'dance' back in
idm.

which is a great thing, finally music people will allow me

Arpeggio is a brilliant track (mix it with windowlicker for
mashup goodness) His tracks work on mix tapes etc but again
i agree the album as a whole is pretty shit. He doesn't do
anything new other than using more of the frequencies than
other WARP artists so its louder and more impressive at
first hearing. 3-4 top tracks rest i can live without.

jesus fucking christ, i publicly admit i'm addicted to this
album. i'm playing "arpeggio" for a 100th time, at quite
high volume ....and i'm trying to understand why and how
this is happening to me. any psycho-logists here to explain
?

"oh boy" now.......oh noes.......amazing.

shut up.

i'm listening...it's still great and unique. anyone else
waiting for his next album ? he promised 4 amazing albums,
didn't he ? :

"I want to make at least four totally amazing albums,"
Jackson says, "and if I can build myself a harem in Berlin,
I will be a happy man!

i hope he's working on Amazing Album #2 right now, are you
too ?

if he's built the harem, we can expect some extremely sexy
album any time soon !

> same here... it's not *bad*, but quite average/mediocre
overall. rather deceiving and not worth it when there's so
much great music available. : |

it will become a warp classic, i love how he has pure fun
with the music, slicing up and dicing up noises, making
simple and much used beats seem fresh and new.

offline obara from Utrecht on 2007-08-30 06:50 [#02116026]

that's the thing. i'm not sure if he really worked 4 years
on the album, but the joy of fucking with sounds definitely
IS there . i'm holding to his word, let him release even
only 2 amazing albums and then disappear without shame.

Yeah, the three tracks I listened to ('Oh Boy', 'Arpeggio',
'Utopia') were okay.

I think it is kinda mediocre, though. Not much replay value.
