i'm going to watch millennium actress and tokyo godfathers
today, both by satoshi kon, the director of paranoia agent.
i'm pretty addicted to his work by now.

redrum: you know nothing about my literary background. i
know nothing about yours. all i've gathered is that *you're*
the one who treats it as "hah! this is
pretty crazy stuff"
material. have you
even read ulysses yet?

finnegans wake is a lot easier to read than you think it is.
i interpret the plot as an allegory for the relationship
between charles lutwidge dodgson and alice pleasance liddel.
anyway, this should be kept in the finnegans wake topic if
it is to be continued at all.

films:

- everything by Miyazaki, including future boy conan and
Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro. Oh, and I just realized
I've probably actually seen all miyazaki films.
- GITS
- GITS2 : Innocence (albeit very different from #1)
- Akira
- Grave Of The Fireflies, by Ghibli's Isao Takahata.
All-time favourite.
- My Neighbour The Yamadas (by Isao Takahata).
- Metropolis
- Barefoot Gen
- Galaxy Express 999 (any of the many films)
- Ninja Scroll
- Final Fantasy: Advent Children (it's CGI, fine, but so was
Innocence)

BTW, I'm watching Cromartie right now, and it's outrageous!
Just the way I like it.

I forgot to mention my favourite Studio Ghibli film, at
least on emotional level, Isao Takahata's "Pom Poko: Raccoon
War".

That film could melt the iceberg that downed Titanic.

i watched it last night and it really is great! it's already
become one of my favourite movies and has permanently placed
satoshi kon on my mental list of favourite directors. the
sense of humour tends to be a surprisingly fine balance
between clever and goofy -- my favourite bit is when gin
(the guy with the black beard) goes to close the old man's
eyes because he thinks he's dead, but when he passes his
hand over the old guy's face his eyes just go completely
huge instead. i'll be watching millennium actress tonight to
see if satoshi kon really has directed nothing but
masterpieces.

I don't know if I said Read Or Die yet, but I really enjoyed
the OVA (or OAV.. I never got that abbreviation right).. I'm
burning the first episode of the tv-series now...

oh, yes.. Elfen Lied was good, though I wished it would've
run longer... 13 episodes wasn't enough.

I liked Guu, Hellsing, Yami no matsuei, Totoro...
Haven't seen much.
My friend's been forcing me to watch lots of shonen-ai, it's
not that bad. :)

shounen-ai? I just unwittingly downloaded an episode of

check the description on animes before downloading.

Yeah well depends on the anime of course. and the yaoi parts
can be... disturbing.
Loveless, that rings a bell, I've probably seen some of
that...

Airmaster is my favorite show right now.

highly recommended.. it's by the same director as the DBZ
series, but it's pretty different.
