He is the best playing at the moment, although Lampard isn't
far off. Ronaldinho, though, can tear a team to pieces in a
way that Lampard cannot, altho' I think Lamps is the more
consistent performer. Also, Shevchenko and Henry aren't bad,
and Rooney will win this award in the next year or two. I
think if he was Brazilian he would have won it already.

for lampard supporters

A lot of people think that. The only problem is that Lampard
plays in the Premiership, so on some weeks he is coming up
against fairly average opposition. His performances for
England have been good, but nowhere near the standard he
sets in the league. Also, in the game he refers to,
Ronaldinho probably had the better game. If I can remember,
Lampard did set up at least two of the goals, but
Ronaldinho's performance that night single-handedly kept
Barca in the game. Also, Ronaldinho is as good for Brazil as
he is for Barca.

lampard is excellent... but football is also about fun and
magic... and in that way thats why ronaldinho is the best...

he has been world champion too... his football is not only
beautiful, but also effective

but yes, lampard could have win it too... but he didnt, I
dont think its unfair though

You are right, football is about the fun and the samba etc.
The only problem is that many players who play like that
look a lot better in highlight clips than they do in real
life - as I am sure many rueful English managers who have
bought from South America would agree...

You have shown awful football knowledge here.

Zidane has been shit for 2 or 3 years now, where have you
been?

i agree.

ronaldinho is the best and i think he is at least as
consistent as lampard.

shevchenko cant be far off... first player to hit 4 goals
away from home in a champs league tie.

I'm English, but have not been brainwashed by the media.

Lampard is top 15 in the world, poor at international.
Gerrard is top 50 at club level, nowhere to be seen at
international. Owen is positively awful.

Buffon is the best keeper, Puyol is the best defender,
Ronaldinho is the best midfielder and Henry is the best
forward.

Deco better than Lampard. Come on mate, you're winding us
up. He IS better at diving, though. Xavi is a similar player
to Lampard, so the comparison is fair. I forgot to mention
Etoo. He is a brilliant striker also.

PS. Zidane has never been, and never will be 'shit'. He is
one of the best footballers of all time, even if he is
nowhere near his best anymore. A 'shit' player, for a start,
would not have won France the match against England last
year, when he was the only French player worthy of wearing
the shirt.

You are right about Gerrard at international level,
penexpers, and you may have a point abt Lampard, but Owen is
hardly an 'awful' player at international level. True, he
doesn't do much, but he does score goals, as you may well
have seen during the 3-2 win over Argentina. He is not a
world-class striker, but he is the best goal-scorer in the
country.

Buffon can hardly be said to be the best keeper at the
moment, given that he has been injured for the whole season
so far. Petr Cech is a brilliant keeper, although Casillas,
Dida and a few others are also top-class (I couldn't comment
on German, French, Portuguese and other keepers, as we in
the UK don't see very much of them.)

I am also surprised by your choice of Puyol. He may be the
best Barca defender, but they have a defence which I would
say is less than watertight. Chelsea probably have at least
2 or 3 of the best defenders in the game at the moment.
There are probably half-a-dozen Italian defenders of top
quality, and Man Utd's very own Gabriel Heinze is an
excellent defender, although of course he is out at the
moment with a serious injury.

Nah, Puyol is the best defender. I had a video on him once I
found on the internet and it was mind-blowing. I watch him
week in week out and I have never seen a defender who is so
solid and faultless. Nesta is close behind. Terry makes too
many mistakes and Ferdinand can simply not defend.

I know, a bit shit for two years, but he occionally shows
some nice stuff. the thing with zidane is that it's in the
details. a perfect pass, a perfect free kick, whatever. not
allot of show like ronaldinho. but he's good also, but
anyway, I don't know that much about football, it sucks
anyway...
