really was only a matter of time until i made this thread,
i suppose.

people are floored when i say "autechre are the only people
who do that kind of music",

and then i am floored when they can't say who else does!

or they say it's BoC or richard devine, or coil, or aphex.
i dont think autechre are anything like them.

so, in this thread, tell me... what other bands is there
which is as fat as AE as far as the beats and the non-beat
approaches reach?

You might try 'newbie seeking advice' thread. Same question
basically.

I can't think of any.

They are original i suppose, but there are so many artists I
enjoy more. Their songs are hit or miss with me.

i don't think it's the case of similar sounds. i think it's
the approach to sound and music making that makes them one
of their kind.

but maybe i wrote something wiser in that "newbie seeking
advice" thread.

i have a track called "Aer (Valid)" by Arovane & Phonem
which i could easily mistake for Autechre.

two - QUINOLINE YELLOW (on skam i think) and
KARSTEN PFLUM - some danish guy.

both are autechre-y.

It's not exactly easy to replicate autechre's sound. You
probably have to know quite a lot about all sorts of
technical equipment, code etc. plus be able to realize
extremely artistic things with these tools. Only a few are
in such a position probably.

You might want to try the album FFT Pop by Mokira. Shares
the same quality of AE I love soo much - Alien but Logical.
