an answer as surrealistically elusive as the television
program it pertains to!

yes, all the shorts, all the episodes (supposedly Director's
cuts now), commentary tracks, digitally restored, 5.1
sound.

all personally overseen by Peter Chung.

I think there's also a few featurettes on there.

So, what's up with the dialogue changes I heard about? Is
there any truth to this?

"'Thanatophobia".

Here are some amazon reviews. If you scroll down
people start bickering about politically correct dialogue
changes or something. That seems weird, did Aeon call
Trevor a fag or something I didn't notice?

that looks wicked...
bohoo for me painstakingly collecting every shred that aired
and then buying them all on VHS ;(

BTW for those who love the amazing Aeon Flux Universe... the
closest to this weird and wonderful place I have seen
anything come is

Enki Bilal - The Dormant Beast
Graphic Novels

Incredible similarities to the original Aeon Flux shorts
including the use of Insects...

hey Adnan..!

I have all of the comics in that series by Bilal ("the
dormant beast" is the 3rd or 4th part, I think) but it never
reminded me of Aeon Flux.. more of '80s cyberpunk imagery
and ideas.

I have no idea. great to see how the reviewers are bein as
vague as humanly possible about the actual changes..

hmm...
It was the character/costume design etc, and yes the flies
taking a central role.... as I closest I have seen anything
come to Aeon Flux...

Cyber Punk is not what I thought when I read The Dormant
Beast... but then again I am a bit of a purist when it comes
to Cyber Punk, to me Gibson (Neuromancer, Burning Chrome,
Hackers plugging into the cyberspace) is Cyber Punk, the
rest is just Corporate Dystopia

The desriptions of the Hospital did remind me of Kathy Acker
and Burroughs by extension but they are a category all their
own

Bought it last night even though I can't really afford
things like this right now. I've been waiting forever since
I never got the original VHS collection, and I knew they
would do it with the movie coming out soon.

Very pleased. Glad to see all the shorts on there as well.

Aeon flux the movie

Guess you all heard about it already, but I didnt see it in
this thread.
There's a movie coming in theaters this week featuring
Charlize Theron.

I'm crazy about it, I like the Aeon Flux cartoons so I hope
this isnt gonna be disappointing.

found an interesting interview with Peter Chung over at
IGN, concerning the new DVD set and the film.

concerning the modifications:

hmm..

"IGN: There have been various rumblings over the years
about the possibility of a second season or regular series.
How much truth is there to those rumors, and how interested
would you be in participating in that project?

Chung: Well, when we were doing it for Liquid Television we
didn't know that it would be turned into a half-hour series,
and there was that period when it was spun off into its own
half-hour series. But now you're talking about doing a
further season, right? Yeah, well, I don't think I want to
do another season for broadcast on MTV. I found the
experience of doing the first full half-hour series to be
very frustrating in a lot of ways, because I felt like
you're working with a lot of time constraints and budget
restraints - restraints - and with content restraints, so we
are developing Aeon Flux animation in another form. I'm not
sure what form it's going to take - you know, direct to
video or theatrical or what. But yeah, I think how the DVD
sells and how the movie does will affect what form that
takes."
