i've been working on an all time list for a long time now... these are the 90s selections (or at least stuff that's sitting on the potential 90s list):
Low- I Could Live in Hope Sebadoh- iii Nurse with Wound and Current 93- Bright Yellow Moon Tortoise- TNT Tower Recordings- Fraternity of Moonwalkers A Tribe Called Quest- Midnight Marauders Ghostface Killah- Iron Man Raekwon- Strictly 4 Cuban Linxxx DJ Shadow- Endtroducing... Tricky- Pre-Millenium Tension Oval- 94 Diskont (V/A)- Improvisational Meeting at Bar Aoyama Ground Zero- Consume Red Squarepusher- Music is Rotted One Note Aphex Twin- Selected Ambient Works II Bernhard Gunter and Jeph Jerman- Buddha with the Sun Face, Buddha with the Moon Face
Olivia Block- Pure Gaze Hafler Trio- Kill the King Alemu Aga- Harp of King David Steve Roden and Brandon LaBelle- The House was Quiet and the World was Calm
Nirvana- In Utero the Black Vial- Jaguar and the Yellow Colours Dr. Dre- the Chronic (there's really a few mid-nineties ganster-esque albums which could fit this spot... my opinion changes on a daily basis)
i'm a not so happy about the minimal amount of rock, but i mean the 90s was sort of a decade when a lot of non-rock sort of came into its own, and i guess i sort of want to recognize that (plus it's what i wanna hear first, anyhow...)

I like Sleep, probably more 'Holy Mountain' than 'Jerasualem'. (sp)
Fu Manchu I dip into now and then, probably 'Action Is Go' my fave.
LOVE Electric Wizard, 'Dopethrone' fucking roolz. Never heard of Dragonaut tho. I've kinda slipped out of the stoner metal scene these days, seems the bands got a bit too repetitive.

i don't know how much of her success she owes to the producers and various people she worked with but what she owes to herself is at least: the choice of those producers, the way she sings which is just not very much like the average way of singing eh, and the songs she wrote? too much a businesswoman maybe (100000 maxi singles or more?) but that doesn't lesser her talent. (now that's what i call an approximate sentence!!! woohoo)

she's an interesting vocalist and bizneezwoman, i agree. i was a fan of her singing once but i just got bored - she sings in 5.45 ways and that's it. those sighs and shouts - it's all been the same since Post. well, actually, which of her records is done without an idm or film celebrity ? or without a romance with a celebrity ? try to look from a distance.
i'm gonna look for some Sugarcubes tracks in a moment.
and btw , you're a real siusiak

non-electronic? does--not--compute! ... just kidding, maybe the following:
radiohead - OK computer (+ Kid A jump-started the millennium)
metallica - metallica
rage against the machine - RATM
red hot chili peppers - californication
tool - aenima (lateralus is better, but came out in 2001)
korn - follow the leader
ultra bra - vapaaherran elämää
kingston wall - I, II or III (I can't choose which one!)
system of a down - system of a down
ozric tentacles - strangeitude
amorphis - tuonela
+ The best 90's album I've never listened to: Nirvana's Nevermind!
Maybe I'd even accept oasis' "What's The Story... (Morning Glory)". And "Buena Vista Social Club" obviously. Manu Chao's Clandestino came out in 2000, but definitely belongs on the list.
...
Now, if the list were electronic, I'd add some obvious BoC, orbital, autechre etc... And moreover KLF's "The White Room": conceivably the greatest faux-pop record of all time.
